Very Good!
I cannot help but wonder how different the cochlear sound is compared to regular sound.

Good for him!
The quality of sound received through a cochlear implant is different from the quality of sound processed through a natural ear, but with time and training, most implant users learn to converse easily.
I think we will all know exactly how it is different within a couple of weeks of Rush getting a handle on it. He will be one of the best people to relate the experience to others who can only imagine it.
Feel better Rush!

As Rush has explained it, even with the implant, he will never again be able to listen to music. So much for his beloved Mannheim Steamroller. Sad.

I'm thinking it sounds like you live in a sea shell.

Rush said that it will be rather poor for sound quality, but much better than complete silence.

Didn't Rush say the new sounds would be different ... like voices would be like computer-generated voices?
Every time I hear the Mannheim Steamroller, I think of him and feel sad. He loves them so much!! I hope he will be able to hear somewhat of what they really sound like. Tho' he did say that he can REMEMBER their sound even tho' he can't hear them!

You know how you can get used to listening even to music on a cheap little speaker? Better that than nothing at all.

I think Rush will tell us himself when he comes back how different his hearing will be. Thanks to the medical community for giving Rush back his hearing. I look forward to listening to him again in January. I'm praying for Rush so that he can continue to fight liberals as only he can!
