I must show my ignorance out of curiosity here. Did the disease affect both ears? Apparently Rush has an autoimmune disease of some sort which affects both ears.

The RAT underground is probably hoping that the implant will explode.

Poor bastard. Now he has to listen to that crazy broad who rants about "The Mothership" again.
No, now he can turn it off! In some ways I am jealous.
P.S. Now I wonder which side of his brain does he tie behind his back? The side with the working implant or without? Or maybe he can switch mid call depending on who is talking.

A friend of mine is having this exact same surgery tomorrow morning. I pray that her surgery goes as well as Rush's did.

This is wishing Rush Limbaugh a speedy recovery, and a Merry Christmas.

Great News!
Get Well, Rush! Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
We look forward to hearing you hear us in January!

What exactly will he hear? Will he be able to carry on a normal conversation without the aid of a monitor (like he uses now)?

Autoimmune diseases go after one type of cells. Ergo, they are always bilateral when those cells exist in organs that are bilateral - e.g., joints of arms/legs/hands/feet/ginfers/toes, eyes, ears, kidneys, lungs, etc.
Since there's only one liver, autoimmune disease of the liver is, necessarily, unilateral!

I am certainly not Rush's biggest fan, but he was heroic during this period of time without his hearing. It must have been extremely difficult to suddenly lose your hearing so completely. He did such a great job on his show and ALWAYS kept his sense of humor. His courage was awesome and I pray for his hearing to be restored.

Even in a state of mute deafness Rush would hear more of the truth, and of the needs of this great nation than all of Dascholes lib entourage put together! God Bless Rush and a Merry Christmas to all!

Any indication that TWO cochlear implants are ever used, in order to restore binaural hearing?
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Thanks for the explanation!
I'm so happy for him, and best wishes that the rest of the process goes as smoothly!

Great !
I look forward to hearing Rush "talk up" a record intro again. Lookout, Larry Lujack.

Great News!
Rush truly needs to hear some of the Lib rants when they call in, as opposed to reading what they're saying. This way Rush can zap them before they have a chance to rant and rave on. He can stop them in the middle of one of their stupid sentences and cream them with Conservative Logic as he always seemed to do.
God Speed Rush back to the Airwaves where he belongs, now and forever!

When Rush first announced his hearing loss he was on heavy medication, including steroids, which made him sound a bit hyper, understandably.
In the last 2 months or so he has sounded the same as usual,a great radio voice, and his interaction with the callers was almost seamless.
Most callers have trouble making their point when you can hear them!
Rush overcame his handicap in the true American style before this operation.
We are all happy that he will once again be able to hear Mannheim Steam Roller, but having to listen to the likes of Dashhole and HILLARY! will temper his joy, I'm sure.
