What a strange thread to be reading today.
My beloved 10-yr old Chow-Keeshund cross - Brunna - dropped dead in my back yard just after midnight this morning. I'd just let him out, as requested, of course, and went to bring him 10 minutes later. I couldn't believe my eyes. I found him lying by the back fence and immediately called the police. However, they (and later the Vet Hospital) found no signs of injury or other exterior trauma. The (un-autopsied) conclusion is 'natural causes,' probably massive heart attack.
I have not slept and I'm running on adrenaline. Knowing that when that subsides my heart will surely be ripped from my chest.
I am an older (59) woman who lives alone and has no family on the NA continent. I am bereft. I dread Christmas. I dread my birthday tomorrow.
Would appreciate prayers.
I would love to post a pic of my Brunna but don't know how. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I know how tough it is, I've lost two in my lifetime.

If you have a photo on a website somewhere, type in the link... we will go look!
Sorry about your loss... I have two old dogs now, and know that their remaining time is going to be brief. I don't dread their passing, because I know that their lives are short, and that can love them completely for their whole life, but over my lifetime I will get to love many.

From my six years working at the vet clinic I can say that we did see this once in a while. Absolutley no obvious cause.
Of course all of us will remember you in our prayers and make a special note to St. Francis.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Prayers on the way. I can't grieve over a dog because I know there are dogs needing homes at the Animal Shelter. The guilt overrides the grief every time.

I'm so sorry. You will be in my prayers. I understand your loss as I recently experienced a similar unexpected loss of my beloved dog.
You have freepmail.

A prayer going for you. I dread the time when my soon-to-be 11 year-old Bea goes to sleep forever.
If I ever reach over for her and she's not warm and soft, I think my heart would break.

My sincere condolences to you. What a shock. I lost my ten year old greyhound, Bryant, unexpectedly to cancer (massive, quick-growing on his heart) just four weeks ago. I have two other dear little terriers to help me through my grief. Take care.
