06:57 PST WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush has invoked executive privilege for the first time to keep Congress from seeing documents of prosecutors' decision-making in cases ranging from decades-old Boston murders to the Clinton-era fund-raising probe, The Associated Press has learned.

You never DID believe, through the fog of your dubes.
You ever wonder why libertarians get no respect?
"If Bush releases anything to Dan Burton and Henry Waxman, he just as well hand it to AP. Those two leak like sieves."
Secret Government has no place in this sinkspur. How about "Statute of Limitation"?
BTW, that wasn't very nice, what you said to Fred Mertz. :-)
Apparently not.
Dan Burton can't protect the confidentiality of his OWN documents; one of HIS OWN PEOPLE leaked a memo during a critical time during the investigation of Clinton.
Nope. I wouldn't give Burton anything, especially with Waxman looking over his shoulder.
Before rendering any kind of judgement I would want to know exactly what is motivating the Bush Administration here. In Clinton's case we knew exactly what was motivating him because HE was the target of the investigations that he was trying to hide. If it turns out, for example, that the case of the Boston murders has some connections to a prominent Massachussetts family of bloated drunks who happen to hold certain positions in government, then I can understand exactly why this kind of information should not be shared with other branches of government.
As I've said to you before, I never beleived the politicians did, but I DID beleive that the rank and file Republicans did. They even seemed to be disgusted with their own politicians themselves. They talked about voteing the lesser of two evils. So I beleived it. But now it seems they are happy to let the Bush administration do as it pleases.
OK.
When Dan Burton releases his communications with his legal counsel, I will demand that Bush do the same.
Don't be an ass.
Can you imagine the Bush administration releasing Justice Department documents about the prior administration at this point in time? The media and intelligensia is stewing over the popularity that W. is enjoying, and his proving the pinheads wrong on every turn. If he were to release this info, this would be the opening the Left needs to destroy his image. And you would hear about his "parisan attacks" all the way through the '02 elections. There would be an immediate end to the coverage of our pursuit of bin Laden. Billy Boy Clinton would once again have center stage in the press.
I believe that W. is smart enough to know better.
Politics is a contact sport. I hate to say it, but, sometimes the lack of understanding the political game here is appalling. Simply appalling. There are many here who want the info released, and I ask "For what?" Information contained in the Justice Department documents would only prove what we already know. Yes, ClintonClintonGore is guilty of myriad crimes. But is it wise to go after them now when there are many Clinton-shills still holding positions that would hinder the current administration?
I shudder to think of the political suicide we would commit by our so-called "zeal" to get at the truth at this present time.
I tend to agree with you, but only time will tell what the real intention is. My acid test is if there are indictments for the Pardongate affair. I for one would like to know what the heck Mary Jo White has been up to other than the mob indictments of a few days ago.
And don't forget, he'll be carrying his shovel (or whatever it was he used to put out that forest fire and got all sweaty and hot).
And, likewise, as you criticize everything he does.
So, I guess we cancel each other out.
Tell me, why doesn't Dan Burton release communications between members of his committee and legal counsel?
Then you don't believe in "Justice" or "The Rule of Law", you prefer "Politics".
And you also can't see that's Exactly the way it was played by the last administration.
Bingo. Nice analysis. Day in and day out, I see a goodness in W that is very, very rare in a President. I trust him and his reasons. Time will tell, and I think I am right...
Umm... nope, not quite the point. Do you release transcripts of your discussions with your attorney to the opposing counsel? Should Congressmen? Should the President? No.
I'd tried to forget that. Bringing that up is going to get all the CheenyChicks, and other Groupies all fired up again.
Guess I'll just have to post my photo to get things diverted from adulation of GW, huh?
