mud volcano Your kind of phenomenon. Inscriptions, too. Just like a Lovecraft story.

Facinating. Wonder how they came up with the 6000 year old date from sonar pictures?

" Evidence of ancient city found in depths off Cuba (best article yet) " It's called Havana.

Moreover, an anthropologist affiliated with the Cuban Academy of Sciences has said that still photos taken from the videotape clearly show "symbols and inscriptions," Mr. Weinzweig said. It is not yet known in what language the inscriptions are written. That should prove to be a lot of fun, if it checks out.

There are really neat mud volcanos in Azerbaijan. Something this deep isn't surprising, though; the sea level is much higher now than it was in the past.

the sea level is much higher now Sea level has risen, but more like 300 feet than 2000 feet. If this is a city, it must have sunk 1700 feet or so, which is unusual. A big methane pocket underneath might have erupted, but even big earthquakes don't normally move land vertically more than a few feet. Parts of Anchorage shifted 20 feet in the Good Friday earthquake and they lost their seaport.

Well, I suppose that should these things prove to be what they appear to be it goes without saying either that the sea level has risen much more than 300 feet or that there has been subsidence to a great degree or both.

Humans are primarily adapted for aquatic or semi-aquatic life (see Elaine Morgans "Aquatic Ape") and have always lived near water. The basic answer to the evos refrain ("where did the waters of the flood GO?") is NOWHERE. The waters of the flood are still here; the continental shelves are in all likelihood the pre-flood ocean boundaries and we are living on areas which were regarded as plateaus before the flood. There's simply more water on Earth now than there was then.
There is reason to believe that the missing oceans of Mars may been been dumped on this planet at the time of the flood but that's a longish story.
Most of the antediluvian cities figure to be below the waves as this site is, and I assume other such sites will be found as well.

Are you claiming that the Waters didn't cover the Whole Earth? Just the Oceans?

"If that dating estimate proves accurate, it would mean that an ancient civilization had designed and erected these vast stone structures in the Americas only 500 years after human settlements first became organized in cities and states. I high lighted what I thought was the error in the above statement.

"Sea level has risen, but more like 300 feet than 2000 feet. If this is a city, it must have sunk 1700 feet or so, which is unusual." Could the Gulf Of Mexico have been isolated for a while like the Black Sea? Partial dessication? Food for thought.

All the places anybody had ever thought about living before it happened. Greeks and Chinese claim people and animals survived on mountaintops and whatever could float for six months.
