They're not liberal or elite, they're two-bob fascists

YOU’D expect me to applaud David Blunkett’s bold attempt to reign in the tyranny of multiculturalism and forge a common British identity.

His remarks over the weekend were almost identical to this column on the subject six weeks ago.

With depressing predictability he has already been accused of stirring up racism.

Needless to say, the absurd and superfluous Commission for Racial Equality has already charged Blunkett with giving succour to the BNP.

Professional race agitators have been queueing up to condemn him.

But Blunkett’s determination to stamp out the ghetto culture, outlaw forced marriages, eliminate the vile practice of female genital mutilation and his insistence that immigrants learn to speak English will strike a resounding chord with the vast majority in Britain.

The Home Secretary must be prepared to face down the so-called “liberal elite”.

I do wish people would stop using that expression. They are not liberal, nor are they elite.

They are two-bob fascists, who impose their world view on the population with Stalinist ruthlessness, through “human rights” laws, guidelines, tribunals, witch-hunts and hate campaigns against anyone who dares to challenge them.

It will take a Labour Home Secretary to push this through. The Tories have been cowed into silence for fear of being branded swivel-eyed Nazis.

Indeed, whenever a Conservative politician has said anything even remotely similar he has been hounded and vilified by the fascist Left and their allies in the media.

They have no rational argument, so they resort to smears and lies.

But they’ll have difficulty making their dirt stick to a man with impeccable Old Labour credentials.

Frankly, when you examine what Blunkett said, you wonder what all the fuss is about.

What is it he is proposing that is even remotely controversial?

Blunkett is merely stating that it is desirable for those who choose to live in Britain to adopt our traditional social values.

He wants everyone to speak English so they can play a full part in society and establish a sense of belonging.

And he is determined to stop barbaric, medieval practices which have no place in a modern, 21st century democracy but which have been tolerated in the name of “multiculturalism”.

And? Er, that’s it.

That hardly makes him the natural heir to Adolf Hitler.

The ghetto politics of multiculturalism has been an unmitigated disaster, fostering division, alienation and resentment on all sides.

It has been imposed not by immigrants themselves but by the legions of self-loathing, self-perpetuating Guardianistas, full of hatred for their own country and institutions.

They have done their damndest to destroy our national identity.

It is they who patronise the ethnic minorities, not people like Blunkett.

They make allowances for people who don’t want them. They make excuses for people who don’t need them.

They divide and rule to feather their own nests. There’s big money in the multiculturalism racket. Blunkett is taking on powerful vested interests, who depend for their livelihoods on erecting racial barriers, carving up Britain into special interest groups, victims and clients and keeping them in their place.

Most of the comments surrounding Blunkett’s remarks have centred on the effect on immigrant families and their descendents.

But equally important is the impact which multiculturalism has had on the indigenous population, particularly the young.

While every foreign culture and religion has been elevated and worshipped, traditional British values have been denigrated.

Schoolchildren, if they are taught British history at all, are bombarded with a twisted version of Empire, encouraged to belittle the achievements of their ancestors and think of their forebears as evil, racist slavemasters.

Survey after survey exposes the grim reality that most teenagers can’t even tell you the date of the Second World War, let alone Trafalgar.

At this time of year many pupils find themselves celebrating Diwali but not Christmas, for fear of causing offence.

It’s not just the children of immigrant families who grow up with an identity crisis.

As I’ve said before, there’s enough of the old Isle of Wight pop festival hippy left in me to believe in the Melting Pot theory.

I’ve always thought people rub along quite well together when they’re left alone to get on with it.

But this is one political intervention which is imperative.

We live on a small, overcrowded island. There’s no room for ghettos, or for a Tower of Babel.

For years, politicians have been concentrating on what divides us.

At last, a Home Secretary is trying to unite us.

There's an English proverb: "fine words butter no parsnips". You can guarantee that all Blunkett's talk about encouraging immigrants to integrate will be just that: talk. Nothing will happen. Nothing ever does.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is just one of the excellent lines in this article.

Thanks for posting this.

An interesting thing about David Blunkett, our esteemed Home Secretary, is that he is blind. I've often thought this must give him a different perspective on issues of race, and could account for his seeming lack of patience with the race relations industry.
