Berry's 'Civil Rights' Antics Expose Lib's Fears

Saturday Dec. 8, 2001; 11:03 a.m. EST Martin: Berry's 'Civil Rights' Antics Expose Lib's Fears Kevin Martin, spokesman for the conservative civil rights group Project 21, says it's no mystery why Civil Rights Commission Chairwoman Mary Frances Berry is carrying on like a banshee after President Bush attempted to fill a vacancy on the commission with a conservative black. On Friday Berry refused to seat Bush nominee Peter Kirsanow, in an episode that has many questioning whether she herself should be bounced as chairwoman. "Berry has made no secret of her dislike and distaste for President Bush in particular and conservatives in general," Martin reminded NewsMax.com earlier in the day. "She jumped at the chance to smear the Bush brothers as cheating blacks in Florida out of their votes and costing Al Gore the White House," he noted. Berry has also directed venomous attacks at the likes of Sen. Strom Thurmond (D-Sc), announcing earlier this year that she couldn't wait for the Southern nonagenerian to die before Vermont Sen. Jim Jeffords' decision to bolt the GOP handed Senate control to the Democrats. Add that to Berry's comment in the 1980's, when she once argued, "Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the rights of white men and do not apply to them." Martin also noted that Kisanow's appointment would give Republicans on the commission equal representation for the first time in years. That would threaten Berry's control of the commission, the Project 21 leader said, denying her the chance to continue "playing to the black vote through outrage rather than true racial progress." "Black liberals are worried that, as President Bush appoints more blacks to important positions within his administration, the smaller their circle will get," he added.

There was a poll just two or three days ago showing that blacks overwhelmingly support president Bush. That must have her panties in a wad.

Bush should forget this "new tone" sillyness and toss this hideous little racist troll out.

She has some enemies in the extreme left.

See http://www.brasscheck.com/pacifica/

I don't see Democratic Underground as the extreme left - they are more like the Klinton Kool-aid drinkers.

Exactly!

"Civil Rights" is now a code word for "anti-white." When is the last time you have ever heard a white refer to his/her "civil rights"? When is the last time you have heard "civil rights" used in any other context than racial preferences for non-whites? Just like "gay" now means "homosexual" and "urban" now means "black." (Orwell would love it!)

Maybe she was saying that civil rights are granted to 14th Amendment citizens and not to the citizens of the several united States, who pre-existed the 14th Amendment.

Mary Berry must go. Civil rights are for all of us, including her. She has a right to remain silent.

Prior to the fraudulent adoption of the 14th Amendment, there was no such thing as a citizen of an entity known as the "United States" and both were created after the war between the States. Until that time, it was accepted that we all derived our rights from God and not from government.

Especially those who vote in Florida.

The best thing Bush can do is LEAVE HER RIGHT WHERE SHE IS. Her antics play bad to just about everyone, and so she will be valuable advertisement for Republicans and constant reminder to all that this is what the left is all about.

She has a right to remain silent.

And I'd like to see her reminded of that by Marshals.
