Slim, in the FWIW dept., I ran a google search for Mohammed Atta and got over 16,000 returns (yow!) but a cursory search of some of these found nothing to support that email- however, that doesn't really disprove it, just suggests more research.
I also just tried profusion.com and got about 30 returns, pretty much the same as the first returns from google.
