"Here Was A Man"
(To be spoken--Johnny Cash-like--over a lonely keyboard version of "Joy to the World")
"Here was a man...a man who was born in a small village, the son of a peasant woman. He grew up in another small village. Until He reached the age of thirty, He worked as a carpenter; then, for three years, He was a travelling minister. But He never travelled more than two hundred miles from where He was born, and where He did go, He usually walked. He never held political office, He never wrote a book, He never bought a home, He never had a family, He never went to college, and He never set foot inside a big city, yet...here was a man.
Here was a man...though He never did one of those things that you usually associate with greatness, He had no credentials but Himself. He had nothing to do with this World, except through the Divine Purpose that brought Him to this World.
While He was still a young man, the Tide of Popular Opinion turned against Him. Most of His FRiends ran away...one of them denied Him, one of them betrayed Him and turned Him over to his Enemies. Then, He went through the mockery of a Trial and was nailed to a Roman Cross between two thieves. And even while He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had in this World, and that was His robe, His Purple Robe. When He was dead, He was taken down from the cross and laid in a borrowed grave, provided by a compassionate FRiend.
More than Nineteen Centuries have come and gone, and today He's the Centerpiece of the Human Race, Our Leader, and the Column to Human Destiny. And I think I'm well within the mark when I say that All of the Armies that Ever Marched, All of the Navies that Ever Sailed, All of the Legislative Bodies that Ever Sat, and All of the Kings that Ever Reigned...All of Them Put Together have not affected the Life of Man on this Earth so Powerfully as that One Solitary Life...

I most heartily and raucously agree!! This is A Fight the RATS Cannot Win...Without Denouncing Bill Clinton and the HildaBeast, that is, but they are unwilling to do that, so it'll mean the End of the Democratic Party as a viable political entity, IMHO, of course.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas...mine sure was. My favorite neice and newest nephew were both enjoying their very first Christmas and I got a whole bunch of it on video, MamaMUD did her usual masterpiece on Christmas Dinner, me and the Uncles and Grandpa pretty well solved all of the SportsWorld's Problems** by dark, and we listened to non-stop Christmas CD's by such favorites as Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and Johnny Cash!! Heck, we didn't even watch all the Football and Hoops like we usually do...The Times They Are A'Changin'!!

I have no real clue, but only a hunch: The radio station played a lot of parody songs that seemed original, yet I don't think the dudes at the small station were capable of producing it themselves. So, I suspect they subscribed to syndicated "original material" that was made available to radio stations & DJs.

Well, Mordecai "Three-Finger" Brown was one of the Cubs greatest pitchers. The Hildebeast used to root for the Cubs before she suddenly became a life-long Yankee fan. So...I hafta be somewhat close??!!
Well, at least you went to UVA. So YOU have a right to brag. What bugs me is all these locals that come out of the woodwork when the Hoo's are playing well. They act like they are the Charter members of the Alumni Association when they couldn't even get past the gated entrance to Mr. J's campus. They probably couldn't even fill out the admission's application. But here they are with the UVA stickers on their cars and wearing the Cavalier colors. Pitiful.
Later, I will rant about the local Duke "fans."
After helpin' put three boys through Mr. Jefferson's University, my parents pretty much consider themselves as legitimate UVA Alumni...and I agree with them. They've got season football tickets and are actually considering how much they need to contibute to get a parking space next year...LOL!! Anyway, I like where we tailgate just fine.
