Its a scooter. It has wheels. It doesn't hover. Its called a "Segway." Neat. Yawn. Thanks to www.ginger_chat.com and Drudge for the heads up.

Seems as though it would fall forward or backward.

Segway, eh? Decent name. It implies something better is coming. My advice is to wait for whatever that turns out to be.

Yeah, this'll revolutionize the world, as if we didn't have enough Jerry Nadlers already.... The only plus I can see is for the infirm, and I wonder if this product is a good idea for old folks whose remaining muscles are on the shaky side; not to mention their reaction time. Ever see a person well past his prime attempting to drive a car? How is an old geezer (I hit 50 next year, so I'm not that far away) going to manuever this thing safely through city streets, as is shown here?

That's IT? Entire civilizations are to be restructured around a two wheeled scooter? Give me a break. Companies and cities will go broke trying to appease the stupid toy. LSD was a better invention.

Oh wait. With Dems in the House, they will certainly get federal funding with our tax dollars.

When is the IPO listing?

Self balancing? Looks like the wheels do a pretty good job at doing that.

According to the TIME article they spent $100 million designing this thing. Obviously wasn't some goof welding together yard sale bicycle parts in his garage. Though people should be cautious. Investors will be flocking to plunk down millions on what might be the 2002 version of the hula hoop or Cabbage Patch Kid, or maybee worse, another Coleco Vision.

The retirees in the Hermosa Beach scooter club can't wait to get their hands on "IT".
