(this is the transcript, not exact because I typed it myself)(paranthetical expressions from me.)
Chick: Tell me, what do you think this means in terms of the prospects of success in any kind of talks coming up Monday that are scheduled between President Bush and the current Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon. Any success there?
Bibi: The problem is not between Israel and America. Were both on the same side of the fence, were democracies fighting terrorism. Youre fighting the Taliban state in Afghanistan that harbors a terrorist organization, were fighting the Arafat regime which harbors a dozen terrorist organizations that have now carried out additional suicide attacks on Israeli civilians in the heart of Jerusalem. The problem is not between Israel and the U.S., the problem is w/ the Arafats and Talibans of the world which harbor terrorists. I think we have to adopt a uniform policy and basically say to Arafat what you are saying to the Taliban. Surrender terrorism or surrender power. In the case of the Taliban, they have not surrendered terrorism so youre throwing them out and youll soon catch bin Laden in my judgment. In the case of Arafat, we should say exactly the same thing to him. Either your surrender terrorism or surrender power. Stop this terrorism or youre out. It needs to come with uniform clarity from North America and Israel. Weve allowed him to act with impunity
Chick: And yet, Mr. Prime Minister, weve been told that Arafat has said he wants all this to cease and hes asked all those that are doing these heinous acts to stop in order to give some chance for peace in the region. Do you believe that hes either paying lip service or do you believe hes lost control of power?
Bibi: Hes ASKED them? You ASK them to stop? You dont ASK them to stop. If you had terrorist marauding Canada from U.S. positions would you ask them to stop or would you take action against them. They have offices. They have addresses. Theyre roaming around free. And hes doing nothing. He should use the 50,000 weapons weve given him to act against these terrorists as hes promised to do
Chick: You gave him weapons to go after these terrorists? (HI, IM A REPORTER. WHERES THE MIDDLE EAST?)
Bibi: (incredulous pause) Well not ME. But the Israeli government that signed the Oslo accords gave him 50,000 Kalichnikov assault rifles.
Chick: What do you believe is being done with those guns right now? Do you believe they are being turned on your own people? (DUH)
Bibi: Well we know that because just the other day Arafats own fatach group, hes the commander of that group, and now officially theyve carried out a terrorist attack just two days ago
So Arafat is in the amazing situation of being both a harborer of terrorists, a Taliban, and a perpetrator of terrorism, a bin Laden. Hes the only leader in the world that qualifies under both categories. (PLEASE PICK UP YOUR YEAR'S SUPPLY OF RICE-O-RONI ON YOUR WAY OUT.) What should be done with Arafat is what you are doing with the Taliban and bin Laden. You dont talk to these people, you dont ask them to be nice. You tell them, unless you stop terrorism, terrorism that your own forces carry and terrorism that you harbor, unless you stop that well take punitive action against you in the most forceful way. At the end of the day, surrender terrorism or surrender power. Thats the only way to deal with terrorism. There is no other way.
Happen to have a copy of Netanyahu's book Fighting Terrorism in my hands. Just got it today and really looking forward to reading it. Have a great night.

I watched some of MSNBC's converage, but was flipping to CNN (although MSNBC was the most current). I didn't hear THAT one--if I had, I would have been waaaay to tempted to kick in the set. I did hear the parade of PA spokesidiots bleating out the talking points--you know, the Israelis made us do it, it's the Israeli's fault, or some variation. I wanted to keep my dinner down, so I only listened through the bilge once or twice.
'If I Recall Correctly'.
While Netanyahu is probably my favorite politician and world leader, I don't understand why Israeli spokemen never stand up to the myth that the Palestinian territory is somehow "occupied". They never point out that the Syrians and Palestinians went to war against Israel (more than once) after making the '48 peace agreement. Therefore, the land that is now called "occupied" is really the legitimate spoils of war in the first place.
Every time one of the Palestinian slimeballs brings up the idea that the poor Palestinians are only responding to Israeli "occupation", his argument ought to be countered by the fact that they lost the territory in the first place by originally declaring war on Israel.
It's time that the Israelis stopped relying on our ignorant media and academia to educate Americans in basic hisory.
. . .am worried that 'Washington' ie GW et al; are being too sensitive; fearing much should it look like they are listening to him; consequently, while Netanyahu tells it like it is. . .and with great wisdom offers 'best option scenariors'. . .no one appears to be listening to him. (. . .initial example of his warning about 'Federalizing' Security at airports. . .)
This is not the time for our being so proud; that we cannot listen and learn. . .even if very discreetly.
Would vote for him in a heartbeat. . .
I like Bibi and try to catch his interviews whatever channel he's on.
