Thanks for the heads up! I am in strongly in favor of increased surveillance authority. I believe it is necessary to thwart terrorist attacks before they happen.

I agree with you. In fact I agree with military tribunals against non- citizen terrroist aliens.

However, the Congress and DOJ and Bush administration must also be careful to put the proper safeguards and oversights in the laws for these newly proposed broader surveillance powers (they have not done this yet properly IMHO) or else there will be abuse and over reaching against innocent US citizens by politicians and the FBI and CIA and BATF and DOJ and FISA and .....

Illegal terrorist aliens do not have COnstitutional right as do US citizens. But there still has to be privacy protections for legitimate, private US citizens. Currently, during the need for the rush to go after these alien terrorists, the rights of US citizens are being eroded and not being protected adequately.

It's almost a moot point for me as a career serviceman and now working in a contractor position for the goobermint where I have to have backgrounds. But just as you agree for the need, I have agreed to the need based on "my choice" of work and the level of intrusion into my privacy.

To have the authority to store and collect data on the average law abidding citizen smuck is to me....unconstitutional. Now do I believe non US citizens should be protected under the constitution other than that provided in the uniform code of military justice (UCMJ).....No !

Collect this data on visitors and illegals but citizens of this nation should remain subject to all constitutional rights and courts.

These are just my opinions on the matter , right or wrong ...........mine.

You Stay Safe Alamo-Girl and thanks again for all your good work.

I didn't want to tell you this, and I could get in a lot of trouble, so don't tell anyone I gave you a heads up, but there was some sort of monumental screw up at headquarters and you're name ended up on a list of possible domestic right wing terrorists and they've been tapping your phone and filming you at home for months. I know, I tried to stop them. And some of these guys can be really immature about it, making private copies of the video and joking about "web cams" and such. But hey, in any organization you're going to run into some bad apples. Doesn't mean we're all bad. Anyways, I think you look hot in the black underwear. Pink does nothing for you. But really, if I were you, I'd watch what you say to Annie on the phone. Some of the real fanatics upstairs don't know when you're joking around. Again, please don't mention this to anyone.

I am afraid the new surveillance authority will wind up doing what federalizing airport security has done so far. Earlier this week, airline flight attendants had to file complaints about "security personnel" getting, well, AGGRESSIVE in checking out the uniformed female airline personnel for "weapons." According to the complaints of these women, none of whom look anything like Muslim killers, "security professionals" take great pains to "pat them down," and "rub their bodies" with metal detector wands. When the women object, they get the bully-boy treatment and threatened with the new anti-terrorist provisions in the law. Some have been surrounded by National Guardsmen and threatened with "strip searches" if they complain. If the airport measures are any indicator, the new powers will be used on everyone BUT Muslim killers, and the Muslim killers will simply kill again, which will be the excuse for even more insanity until the American people FINALLY get mad. When they emphatically make it known that it is fruitless to tyrannize and oppress AMERICANS, and anyone who tries will pay for it, I think all the attacks by Muslim killers will end, as there will no longer be any incentive for them as the resulting attempts to tyrannize and oppress will be met with emphatic opposition from the people.
