You said you have been here since last May. If you wouldn't give the site one dime, then why are you still here? Just to mooch? You don't have to donate to be respected here or to ensure your posting privileges, and in that respect alone the site owner- and others who do donate- have been very generous, don't you think? Indeed, who would want to accept a donation from someone who despised the place? Keep your money if you think the site doesn't deserve to exist the way it is. But if you genuinely think it isn't worth your money, don't come here and use other people's donations to pay for your complaint time. That's like having a panhandler take a ten dollar bill from a generous lady, only to $@3% on her doorstep because she won't let you have the run of her house.

You may be the owner of this forum but you cannot make it without the people who participate here. YOU need them. I say them because you don't need me...because I wouldn't give you one red cent. You also need the articles they post. The people on this forum are providing you with a pretty good living so maybe you ought to cut them some slack.

This may be your baby...but those who give and want to... do have right to know what's going on with the money.

Why? Why does a gift-giver have a right to know anything? Are you the type who insists on going to your relative's houses every year to check up on the gifts you have given them? Do you make sure the ugly sweater you bought Uncle Hersch hasn't been given to the Salvation army or been resold in a garage sale?

You don't have a 'right' to know- but you DO have a right to not give, as you said, one dime. You haven't- so YOU have no business complaining even by your logic. Let the donors complain.

If the people who surround you are pissing it away in divers ways it might have an impact on some little old ladies or men who are giving donations out of their pension...people who are sending you their Christmas money, etc...you know things like that.

And since we all respect responsibility here, don't you think that that is the responsibility of the donor, and not YOU? What are you, Big Government?

If the 9th court over turns the ruling of the other court that would be good news for FR. I doubt it will happen. Clarity leaving the cause gives some indication ( in my mind anyhow) of how things are going.

I don't know. I assume he posts on one of the AF sites as nnlb. I am surprised at his tenacity ( all of them really) in seeing this site undermined. The tenacity does seem to border on obsession for many of these folks, but it makes for interesting reading. It is a soap opera that very very few people would be expected to be interested in. For some reason I am, but do not participate in myself. However, I think they are mostly just uncovering deeds that have been done from within FR that undermine the site. In other words, the AFers are not doing the underming, per se, but rather uncovering deeds from within the site itself, that have undermined the site. There is a lot of gratuitous ridicule thrown in to boot, for sure , with you being a target from time to time.

There's a lot of things with which I disagree with the Libertarians, but we banded together after 9/11 and forgot our differences.
When they refuse to fight for this country for whatever reason, we are no longer banded together, and I will fight them and their philosophy where ever I see it.
Anyone who is willing to fight for this country is a patriot, no matter what else he or she might be.

Jim, Thanks for the follow-up message. I think you did a good job clarifying why this site will remain non-profit.

Yet, some FR people here do such a bang-up job on research, I would think they could perhaps form a profit-making research group -- unaffiliated with FR -- and, taking on paying clients.

If any of those eager-beaver researchers should happen to decide on their own they want to donate to FR, just as they might decide to donate to any other organization, well, so be it.

Just a thought for the future, for those people out there who have the time to organize such ventures!

PS Yellow Rose, Nita, Alamo-Girl -- I was thinking about what happened on that FL hospital thread. That nurse's law firm could not possibly have done all the research FR already did on behalf of her case!
