I just turned on C-Span late this afternoon in the middle of Senator Murkowski's(sp?)presentation and I think I heard him say the Energy Bill will be allowed to go to the Senate floor this coming Monday for a vote! Has anybody heard this? Need verification but I'm sure that I heard the senator say it.

I heard the same thing on C-span - in fact he is on now. I have written several e-mails to the Senate to push for this energy bill (H4?). Anyway, both Murkowski and Landrieu were in support of this bill. Any pressure we can exert we should do now.

We need to drill in Alaska. We need to buy more oil from Mexico, Venezuela, and Russia. We need to phase out buying oil from the Middle East.

I was watching CSPAN this afternoon, and here is my recollection. Good ole Dashole was talking about the RR Retirement and the Farm Bills. Lott stood up and brought up the Energy Bill and a moritium on human cloning as well. The Energy bill will be voted on monday, as well as an amendment to ban (moritorium for now) human cloning. These will be voted on Monday at 5pm.

Senate GOPs Get Cloning, Energy Bills
By CURT ANDERSON, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Republicans won the right Thursday for a vote on two of their high-profile issues: an energy bill and legislation that would temporarily ban human cloning.
A vote was scheduled for Monday afternoon on an amendment by Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., combining a six-month ban on cloning and a House-passed package of $33 billion in energy tax breaks that also includes a controversial proposal opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling.
Although the amendment is unlikely to get the 60 Senate votes necessary, Lott said Republicans believe the issues need to be addressed before Congress recesses in December.
``In the case of energy, and in the case of cloning, if we don't do it now, we won't be able to do anything until February or March,'' Lott added.
President Bush (news - web sites) and congressional Republicans have sought a vote on the energy legislation since it passed the House in July, arguing it is critical for the economy, would create jobs and would reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil.
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., said earlier this week that the Senate will consider energy incentives early next year.
The Senate also plans to consider human cloning issues next year, but news this week that a Massachusetts company had succeeded in cloning a human embryo led Republican conservatives to demand a temporary ban right away.
Sen. Sam Brownback (news - bio - voting record), R-Kan., said his proposal would ban all human cloning for six months to give Congress time to examine the issue.
``Time out - let's hold up a little bit,'' Brownback said. ``We need to debate all of these issues.''
The amendment combining the two high-profile issues was proposed as part of yet another unrelated measure: a bill overhauling the railroad retirement system that would allow pension funds for about 1 million people to be invested in the stock market.

Thanks for the heads-up. I e-mailed my Senators (like it's going to make a difference...MN...Wellsh*t, and Dates&nuts) but I'm doing it anyway! This simply MUST be done! We need oil production to excellerate in this country. We need our own fields to start production. If we depend on Arab oil we must kiss Arab butt. It is the job of the Congress to, first and foremost, protect the people! Deny independance from foriegn oil and you have denied the People of the protection that is their RIGHT. Then the congress has defaulted on it's constitutional duty, the protection of the People! Now they become TRAITORS!
LET'S ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ballot Box...2K+2...Republican majority in the Senate.....Let's Roll! 2K+2 larger majority of Republicans in the House....Let's Roll!
No RINOs need apply!!!

Dasshole was nailed big time......seems he wanted to put off the energy bill because he wanted to do a fundraising trip for next week. Wanted to get out of D.C. but now the news is out about his 'plans'. I say make them stay in D.C. until all the President's initiatives are voted on and PASSED.

We need to buy more oil from Mexico, Venezuela, and Russia. You don't want to be depending on Russia for oil,Russian oil is very expensive to produce & deliver. Russia is hoping the nutso muslems blow up the Saudi fields, then Russia will dictate the price of oil.
The Russian break-even oil price in regards to their economy and budget is $18.50. When Russia defaulted on their debt in the late '80's,it was because of cheap oil prices...
I see many notes here on FR about cheap oil & Russia....be careful what you wish for,re: Russia & oil.
The Saudi's can sell oil for $2 & make a profit,no other oil producer can come anywhere close to that.

Thanks for the post.I thought I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago which said that the bill had enough votes to pass and possible 60 votes, enough to kill a filibuster.
