[history]
In his mind's eye, the image of what Jose Antonio Serra saw in a burned patch of jungle on the Amazon's edge is still chillingly fresh -- not because the murder happened just seven weeks ago, but because there are some things a father can never forget.
What he found, a short walk from his family's mud hut, were the remains of his 13-year-old son: a figure on its knees, head buried in the dirt, genitals and middle figure removed with cuts that looked almost surgical. In shock, Serra noticed an odd detail: The mutilated body looked diminished, even shrunken. Then he noticed the gash in the boy's jugular vein, and realized that his blood had been drained.

Satanists drive cars, pay their bills and go to church. You forgot to add "and post on FreeRepublic."

That was, of course, a human sacrifice, and fortunately (for Isaac) the Lord let Abraham off the hook.. The point is, He did let Abraham off the hook, in order to proove that He was not like the gods of other societies contemporary to the Jews.

I will admit that i have never read the Harry Potter books and I have no interest in reading them. My wife is getting the complete set for Christmas from her brother. I might have to break down and read them just to see what the big stink is about.
Or would it be better to not read the book or possibly face an eternity in hell if i do?

But He did accept the ram as a sacrifice, didn't He? And it was, after all, a rather common custom at the time.

Does advertising have power? If not, then why do corporations pay for it? Any idea has power. The question is, how much? I saw cigarette ads on TV when I was a kid. Guess how many cigarettes I've smoked in my lifetime.
These troops were then desensitized by viewing or repeatedly acting out violence
They're supposed to kill the enemy. They deliberately practiced that specific act with that intent. I think there is a difference between this and someone playing Doom. I played Doom; haven't shot anybody yet. More to your point, although I have a concealed carry permit and hope that if attacked I will use my pistol effectively, I do not relish the thought of killing and sincerely hope it never comes to that.
I will have to look for this study and see for myself. The fact that it was talked about by a caller to Rush does not give it automatic veracity.

You have no problem referring to someone as the spawn of Satan? "You may judge a tree by its fruit."
"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters."

The fact that it was talked about by a caller to Rush does not give it automatic veracity. No, but she mentioned the book title. It had "killers" in the title and was written by a military person. At least that's what I remember.
"Harry Potter" books are big in Brazil?

Hmmm. I would venture that most Satanists are not real fond of St. Thomas Aquinas. My guess is that they're going around poo-pooing Christian concerns and making them out to be nuts and wackos.
Kinda like you.

There have been several posters asking about how to find a unicorn .
This gives me an opportunity to expound on my personal theory of unicorns .
Actually, IMHO, a unicorn in most probably an African RHINOCEROUS . Let me explain . we have a lot of pictures from the English days of chivalry, (the era of the crusades) when knights came home from the east and North africa with tales of one horned horses .
Well, the name of an African animal, hippopotamus means "river horse" (hippo=horse, potamus=drinking water source).
well, a one horned Rhinocerous looks very much like a horned river horse .
Ergo, the unicorns described in the middle ages were Rhinocerouses, IMHO.

I might have heard of this book. What I meant to say is that I must read it for myself; just because the caller liked it doesn't make it true.

He was also testing Abraham's faith in Him. Abraham was willing to even sacrifice his son in order to be obedient to God. Naturally, God had other plans, but Abraham didn't know that.
