Those taxes are the reason I quit smoking. When I started smoking I was paying about 35 cents a pack. Today they are over 3 bucks a pack, most of the increase due to taxes, and I'm just not going to pay it. I still enjoy the occasional cigar though.

In Maine, cigarettes are $40-$50 dollars a carton now. We roll our own. For under $8.00, we get a fine carton of cigarettes. We refuse to pay that tax, also. It was killing us. But now, we smoke and save a lot of money. A LOT of money!!
