Yes, it is "freedom of speech," but it also is offensive... because one of the bedrock principles of our nation is that of freedom of religion and tolerance for other beliefs...
This guy can't say whatever he wants--in fact, it's better that he do so, so that other people will understand what kind of "Church" it is that he's running there--but others are also free to say he's a bigot and an *asshole.

Bravo! Great Post! What you are referring to is that basic goodness that really made us different from Europe. Your words show that this country still remembers for what its stands.

But just you wait: people on this board will jump at you, all at once. Within a post or two they will acuse you of being a lurking liberal, PC freak, Islamic sympathiser, not a true believer, and then anti-Christ himself.

The wrath of people on this thread who are more Christian than Christ is about to befall you.

It is for all who accept Jesus Christ as the Son of the LORD God of Israel and as their Savior!

So then it's NOT for Jews? Would you please make up your mind about this and let me know? :)

one of the bedrock principles of our nation is that of freedom of religion and tolerance for other beliefs.

In Muslim countries, they're beating, imprisoning, and killing Christians, and taking Christian children and selling them into slavery. And this is happening today, everywhere in the world, by the millions.

But when a pastor in Idaho prints the truth on a sign on his own church's property . . . why, that's unconscionable!

The book of Revelations was written before Islam was a religion, if memory serves me correctly.

The book of Isaiah was written before the coming of Jesus Christ if memory serves me correctly. ;-)

Oh wait, I get it: Christian churches are bad and Christians are hateful - THAT's the message of this article. No, you don't get it. Nowhere does the article say that. It does raise the question whether that particular pastor is doing the right thing: from both Christian and American standpoints. The answers are up to you.

What "kind of church?" You sound like a bigot.

"Our fight isn't against people but against powers and principalities ... Good vs. Evil"

RIGHT!! The evil is Wahabism, not Islam itself. Bin Laden is a Wahabist. Hate Wahabism, because it's Wahabist doctrine that bin Laden spews at Christianity. The man is NUTS, don't you see?

Yes, I know Wahabism is a fanatical offshoot of Islam. Jehova's Witness are a rather fanatical offshoot of Christianity. Does anyone remember the 355 pound South Side man who beat his 12 yer old daughter to death with an electrical cord, because he didn't feel tht she listened to his orders well enough? He beat her to death because of his radical, twisted view of the teachings of the Bible. Bin Laden is like that man.

why does it have to bring about armageddon?

I did not bring this up...cake_crumb did.

This is all about proclaiming Gospel Truth vs. political correctness, in my opinion. The truth (gospel) has already been told, Christians just need to GO, and shout it from the rooftops....and not fear men...or the media...or Islam...or???

"Next the week the sign will say, 'The spirit of Judaism is the spirit of the antichrist.'

If Jews proceed to beat, torture, enslave, and murder millions of Christians -- as Muslims do -- then yes, that sign will come up.

If Jews do none of those things, then they do not have to fear a roadside sign in Idaho.

Houle believes that both Islamic teachings and Old Testament scriptures in the Bible similarly discuss love, brotherhood and peace and are foundations of both Christianity and Islam.

Believes, but certainly does not know. She is no diferent, than
any marginal Christian who has a familarity with the Bible, but
no deep understanding, nor do most know what their church's
actually support.

Anyone on this forum has access to the quotes from the Koran
and certainly we have access to the history of the Islamic
movement.

"Last time I checked, fanatical Jews, Hindus and Buddhists weren't crashing planes into the WTC and the Pentagon."

Nor is their Prophet a Pediphile. Any religion that condones marriage to a 6 year old is perverted.

Why not?

I mean, maybe it's not a good idea.. I can see that, it does seem to be the wrong forum for such a teaching because people won't understand it in a religious context.. They will see as hate spewing and it may drive them away.

Whereas, if he preached it and explained it.. and showed members of the church chapter and verse things might be different.

But I see no reason why anyone can literally keep him from saying it. It's protected speech.

And if they do, I want them to drive right over to NY and have a little talk with "Revrend" AL Sharpton next.

So is this mayor and the city council going to pass a law telling Christian churches what they are allowed to preach and believe?

That's what it's coming to. Arab propaganda is now claiming that allah and God are the same which is their way of convincing us to convert to Islam. But if you believe Jesus is the son of God and ask them if that makes him the son of allah, they become very offended. Everything offends them unless we accept the Koran so why should it matter what we say?

Historic Christianity has held to the trinity from the foundation of the Church

Show me a reference to "The Trinity" prior to 125 A.D.

Isn't that what Freedom of Speech is about? Or in order to have all these Muslims immigrate do we need to quit that first amendment right?

The sign only reminds passersby how wide a gulf separates Christians and Muslims, something that must be borne in mind before one attempts a reconciliation. Muslims comes to this country from countries that specifically repudiate the principle of religious toleration embodied in the First Amendment, and their indifferece to plight of the United States has. unfortunately, beeen demonstarted only too clearly and often since September 11.

I'm a Christian, of Jewish descent. In subscribing to religious intolerance, you go after the religion and miss the Enemy. The Enemy is Hate. Hatred knows no religious boundries. Hatred is Evil. Evil is Darkness. Darkness is the End.

My dear friend, I have attended places of worship in many denominations of Christianity and Judaism. In my experience, I have heard words of shear stupidity from the pulpit, liberalism, socialism and even bigotry (or just plain chauvenism ie: our Christian denomination is better, truer or more holy than the others, etc.).

I have yet to hear, however, a clarion call (or even the most subtle of intimations) for the "death of America" or an incitement to treason or sedition, or the murder of innocents, simply because they worship differently, from any pulpit in any of the afformentioned places of worship.

But daily, I see video clips on television of "holy men" in Islamic Mosques, both abroad, and here in the U.S.A. calling for the death and destruction of America and her people, and the end of Western Civilization, in the name of a pure Islamic world.

And on September 11th of this year, we all witnessed a glimpse of what such a Muslim world would mean for the rest of us free worshippers, that would not choose Mohammad.

And you're getting excercised about one little church's sign.

Give me a break, please.
