To: Libertarianize the GOP
Usually, but not always. I have a real hard time defending the pharmaceutical industry. We aren't just talking about supporting capitalism and rewarding their research. The pharmaceutical industry works hard, in concert with the FDA, to stifle competition, deny Americans truthful information, impede our ability to choose our own health care, and much more. The big Pharmaceutical Companies and the Government work together to suppress freedom. As one who apparently supports libertarian philosophy (based on your screen-name), you should not be so ready to support the pharmaceutical industry either.

Sowell was only indirectly defending the pharmaceutical industry. The primary point was that patents are essential to justifying companies R&D expenses. Both Thomas Sowell and I would agree with you on the FDA and the Socialist companies in bed with it.
