EDWARD SAID'S truly significant academic achievement, it turns out, was to announce that all Oriental scholars were imperialists and racists, wiping the university slate clean of any usable knowledge. This was an intellectual version of the Khmer Rouge's tactic of killing everyone who wore glasses (and thus who read and carried in their heads the knowledge of the past).

Since the communist (or should we just call them "pro-communist") left had already seized the means of intellectual production (i.e., taken over the university faculties by the systematic application of Stalinist methods during the '70s and '80s), the next step in Middle Eastern Studies was to hire only - or mainly - left-wing ethnic academics from the benighted theocracies of that region. In other words they imported the second-rate Marxist ideologies of the Third World into the university using their ace card - anti-white racism - to maximum advantage. Said himself is almost as big a liar as Chomsky, but having served on the PLO Council and thrown rocks at Jews, he trumps the MIT sage easily as an authentic terrorist.

This is all just one more pathetic page in what has to be the most disgraceful period in American academic history. But make no mistake about it. The greatest internal threat to American security these days (outside the mosque) is American universities. We live in an age of lies manufactured by progressives to discredit America and its promise and to do this, above all, by sowing racial and ethnic hatred - in particular by spreading destructive myths among black Americans to make them hate their own country.

The other half of the wretched school failure story--[Excerpt]-- It is appropriate that most of the criticism of government schools deals with academic failure. But that is only half the wretched story. Contrary to what many parents think, most of those responsible for the education of our children are not socially and politically neutral. They are ideologues with an agenda.
