Judge Baltasar GarzonToo bad W can't appoint him to a US bench. Oh, that's right, Dash-hole and Leahy would never let his appointment go forth anyway.

They look like Midwestern right-wing fringe types to me.
Knew it.

Atta was in Spain from July 9 to July 19. I wonder who he met while in Spain. I wonder if any of his phone conversations are recorded.

Garzon is a controversial judge. He's the one who issued an extradition order for Gen. Pinochet which led to the general's being held for so long in London, until the legal case could be sorted out. But here I applaud what Judge Garzon is doing.

NUKE THEM ALL...
Then, use their ashes to pave our roads. (I'm so heartless... Heh, Heh...) But seriously, these individuals must be stopped. They are really dangerous and are capable of the most horrific crimes. These individuals are quite frightening. We must be alert and strong. This war isn't over by a long shot.

Garzon is somewhat of a celebrity in Spain, having worked on numerous high profile cases (and severely disrupting international law in the Pinochet affair). He's quite showy, but then, sometimes he really hits the mark, and he is not easily intimidated. I'd say he's definitely scored with this arrest.
BTW, alert readers may have noted that one of the names of those arrested was not Arabic, but Spanish. The man is indeed a Spaniard, a convert to Islam whose prior activities seem to have included some minor connection with HB, the political wing of the Basque terrorist group, ETA. Both the fact that he was a convert and the fact that he had had some contact (although possibly not extensive) with a domestic SPanish terrorist group make this report even more alarming.

Some Russians that I met at a business dinner last spring, asked me why we were supporting the Muslims in Bosnia, Chechnya and Kosovo. They said that they are not friends of the US and would turn on us as soon as possible. They said that instead of helping the Muslims in the Balkans, we should be helping the Russians in Afghanistan.
Now I wonder if they knew something that we did not.

HA! Don't hold your breath. Unless there's some secret deals going on that we don't know about, they will spend the rest of their lives in a Spanish jail.

"The man is indeed a Spaniard, a convert to Islam whose prior activities seem to have included some minor connection with HB, the political wing of the Basque terrorist group, ETA."Livius and all--does anyone recall the American Media anthrax attack? One man died, and others had the skin anthrax. One of the first suspects was an intern. Most of us dismissed him as being unlikely, because he was not Arab, but in fact, a Spaniard. Maybe we (including the FBI) should re-think that?

Probably not a good idea right now...we can torture these Mohammedan scum in Spain to glean info from them, not in the USA.

Wasn't Garzon involved with a case involving Basque terrorists in the past?
Swiss TV journalist Richard Labeviere details in his book Dollars for Terror how some European super-rightists, especially neo-Nazis, have joined the Islamofascist cause, and even converted to Islam. Surprises me, though, that a Basque nationalist should so convert. Aren't the Basques super-Catholic? I'm Irish (Irish-American, actually, but I have plenty of relatives in Ireland,) and, weakened as the church now is in Ireland, I am sure that any Irish nationalist who actually converted to Islam would immediately forfeit all support in the country. Are the Basques any different?
