I read your profile and I am amazed! As an American who has lived for some time in The Netherlands I never thought I would hear of anyone with conservative Republican sympathies (with the exception of my wife).

On the matter of violent crime, a Rotterdam policeman whom I know amazed me one time when he said that the violent crime rate in The Netherlands is roughly the same as in the U.S. That is not what most people believe. My theory is that when some hoodlums in Podunk, Ohio gang rape a girl CNN tells the whole world (over and over and over) every last detail about it. It happens in The Netherlands or Belgium or wherever in socialist Europe, and it gets quietly brushed aside in the news. People in Podunk never hear about it.

You are absolutely correct in that some US cities are very dangerous after dark. I guess my point is is that I was expecting more from the Dutch. All that legailized vice brings in a very unsavory element. When I go on vacation I don't want to see what I can see in downtown Philadelphia or New York on any night.

A long time ago, I ran the bar in a French restaurant and hired a Moroccan as a bartender. The owner of the restaurant, a Breton, told me to fire the man before he showed for his first shift. He explained to me that in France, Morrocans and Algerians had done what is described in this article. He regarded moslems as dogs and wouldn't do business with them in any way. I think I see now what he had experienced in France and why he felt as he did. At the time, I merely regarded his attitude as being within his rights as a business owner and didn't consider arguing with him. I just hired an American bartender instead.

Although Marc Dutroux was Belgian, simular things are happening in Holland. About two years ago, a German boy was missing. German police suspected he was kinapped and put to work in an illegal gayclub in Rotterdam. The German police passed this information on to the Dutch authorities, but no action was ever undertaken, until the German governement got involved. Under pressure, the Rotterdam police checked the gayclub and didn't found the boy there. End of story for the Dutch police. A German TV news crew started to investigate for their own (they found out that the boy was sighted there) and came behind the shocking thruth. The Rotterdam police wrote announcements in advance of their inspections to these illegal gayclubs! Of course you'll find nothing if you warn them about three months ahead! The police KNOW there are underaged boys forced into prostitution and they even know who runs these places and the adresses, but they don't want to do anything about it ("they pay taxes, don't they")! Can you believe it! The German investigation was also aired on Dutch TV by a crime reporter, but this didn't impress anyone in Holland.

Oh, another thing about Holland. Until about the Dutroux affair, the possesion of child porn (images and video) was NOT forbidden by law! Only the trade and recording was a criminal act! These laws were changed because of public pressure, but if you get caught the scentence is very mild (as in "some hours" of community work). Also recently a Dutch police officer was fired for using the policestation's mainframe computer to maintain his own private collection of child porn. After colleges found out he was fired.

Recently a man was arrested after the disaperance of a 7 or 8 year old girl. He was the main suspect, for he was convicted for child abuse earlier. After a "rehabilitation" program, he was let loose into society. He told the police he kidnapped the girl and raped her brutaly for two days. The little girl was found death at the man's house, she was hanged to death after the man got enough of savaging her.

This is the true face of justice in Holland! Justice for all? Don't make me laugh for I am already crying about these horrible crimes nobody really cares about over here in Holland!

There is this district in Amsterdam, called the Bijlmer (Amsterdam South-East). You can compare it to the Bronx in New York. The chance that you'll get mugged or beaten up (just for being white or if they jsut dno't like you) is just as bad.

I don't know about number of people being right winged, but there is this new right winged party (Leefbaar Nederland, means Livable Nehterlands) who will get a lot of votes in their first elections, just for being "midly anti-muslim". Although many people vote for the VVD (right winged) and CDA (right winged christians, opposition), their total maybe 30-35%, the leftist hold all the real power.

They probebly got away with only some community service, they are juvinile. They all still walk free and reguarly commit crimes, according to the article. But for these kind of people there is no punishment in Holland. The wellfare workers (a bad kind of mental disase, old hippies still with taliban-like-beards and socks made of goat-wool, really!) tell the youth-judge they "had such a bad youth full of discrimination and no chance of education" that they all come away without any real punishment. Also they are to young to be really trailed and jailed. This is no sarcasm, just sad reality in a land where political correctness (For a Dutchman there is nothing more important then showing the world just how they care for even the worst scum!) is far more important than justice or protecting innocents from the criminals they protect!

I agree with Knight Hawk. I live near the location where the rape took place. This neighbourhood is one of the worst in the Netherlands. Almost everybody here is from Maroc and Turkey. I never go out without my knife. By the way this wasn't the only rape that took place in this neighbourhood. It happens quite a lot actually. It is also true that the police only concentrates on things like trafic controls. The Netherlands is after Denmark the safest country when it comes to trafic accidents. It is also true that this country is ruled by lefties. Ever since the 60's they have been importing muslims. Especially Maroccans and Turks. In no way they try to adjust to the Dutch way of life. They do not integrate in our society but they form their own instead. There are 16 milion people living in the Netherlands and over 1 milion is foreigner. Over 70% of the jail population is foreigner. Most of the murders are done by foreigners, especially Turks who controll the heroin market in the Netherlands. Most of the muslims here don't have a job, but live on welthfare. The costs keep rising which is a problem because there isn't enough money for good education and healthcare anymore. The lefties have been neglecting the problems ever since. For people it was dangerous to speak about this foreigner problem in public, because you would me made out as a racist immediately. There are also severe penalties for people who make use of their 'freedom of speech'. After the accident in New York a lot op Dutch people had enough of that. For the first time in years there is a new political party that dares to make the foreigner problems part of their campain. Muslims have a protected status over here. The Dutch law is much to soft for them. They put their terror on the Dutch people because they know they can get away with it. In the Netherlands it is illegal to own a gun. There are lots of guns around anyhow. Last year is was threathened with a gun by a Maroccan in clear daylight just for fun. The police didn't even want to come over when i called them about it. As a matter of fact the muslims can get away with everything they do to us. The police knows this, and they hate muslims too, but they don't have the means to do something about it. If a cop in the Netherlands shoots somebody they get punnished for it almost every time. They can't shoot either, because there is no money to let al of them train their shooting skills at least once a year. Isn't this crazy. The dutch laws were all made when there were only dutch people here. They know how to behave. The same laws aren't appropriate for our society nowadays. I could go on and on about the Dutch politics but that would take to long. The lefties control the media in this country and because of that a lot op people (especially in the rural areas don't have the slightest idea how dangerous the situation is getting.)

The profits of my labor go to a company that promotes many things with which I don't agree. If I hadn't spent so much of the last ten years unemployed or working in very poor conditions, I might be looking for a new employer. As it is, I have to make a living, and good jobs in my field are not plentiful. For the most part, the company treats its employees very well. That situation is a welcome change for me. Maybe I will still have to leave someday as a matter of conscience, but for now I have to put my career back on track and leave some fights for others to fight. I can't bear the cost of every battle.
