The next wave of attacks will come from truck bombs

November 16, 2001; Many security officials are convinced that the next wave of attacks will come from truck bombs (a favorite of al Qaeda) rather than more airplanes. Police found that Nabil al-Marabh (linked to bin Laden) had attended a truck driving school and had obtained a permit to haul hazardous materials. When police went to arrest him, they found two Arab immigrants who had also attended truck driving schools. Further investigation found 18 Middle Eastern men in Pennsylvania, all of whom had licenses for large trucks and hazardous materials. There are estimated to be 770,000 trucks on the road in the US every day with hazardous materials (gasoline, nuclear waste, chemicals, explosives), including 50,000 gasoline tankers (each of which carries about 10,000 gallons, the fuel load of a trans-continental airliner. Trucking companies have been warned to check everyone who has a hazardous materials permit. Truck driving licenses are fairly easy to get, and in many states a hazardous materials license requires only passing a multiple choice test of ten questions.

We may be on to something here...
First they went to flight school, now they're going to truck driving school. It seems to me that Osama's boys are getting their ideas on destroying America from watching Sally Struthers pitch tech school classes. Maybe the FBI should just get ol Sally to advertise a class in Nuclear Science for Muslim Extremists and its over.

Yes, trojan horse hackers - bad all week.

Welcome to the war with Islam. Here in Israel I get scanned about once an hour now for 14 months. Sometimes I get it every few minutes for a couple of hours. Most come from Spain, the second biggest bunch is Britain. This is the home of the more advanced Moslems. The Palestinians are just DOS ping attackers. They slow the net bunches but don't seem to play with scripts. Script Kiddies are sophisticated compared to Pali's. Internet services are through Israel by sublet bandwidth under Arab ISP. Sometimes I wish that when the pinger's go nuts, Israel would just shut down their Service providers or limit the bandwidth.

I made homemade nitroglycerin when I was in high school. I tested the stuff on a pretty pesky anthill in my backyard. Two years later the crater had not filled in, but had grown grass making a 2 foot diameter 12" deep spot in the lawn.

A gasoline tanker truck IS a bomb. Just drive it into an office building at 70MPH for another WTC.

9-11 was not a "clown show". Only a fool would place his security in underestimating these animals.

LOL! I also was an home grown piro in my youth. Never made nitro, the acidic stability and heat problem was daunting. After getting some nasty burns with one experiment I kinda got spooked. Most likely kept me alive! -grin-

"After an adjustment period, you learn to live with about anything."

I think this very true. There are 280 million Americans. This country is huge. And we live with danger everyday. Heck, California could be hit by massive earthquakes tomorrow and people live there and accept it.

I think everday when I wake up, will something happen? Will they attack? But it does not scare me to think about it. I'm not at all afraid. You get used to it. During the Cold War we lived with the idea that we could be nuked. It's the NOVELTY of terrorists actually attacking us on our own soil in such a spectacular way that now causes us to focus like a laser on terrorist generated danger as opposed to other kinds of danger.

Remember the truck at the capital building in California?
Truck Hits CA Capital Building, Explodes
Trucking company sued by state for Capitol crash
I know it was posted here somewhere.
Most of the gasoline tankers are short haul runs (urban areas/short supply-demand turnover).

Don't forget the moslem gasoline tanker driver that "accidentally" swerved his rig across the center line into another truck in the Swiss/Italian road tunnel last month.

Buy stock in satellite tracking services for commercial trucking. Infrastructure already in place. Most easily implemented inspection network component.

The 27th day of Ramadan is the day to watch. It is the day the so-called Prophet had his revelation. On that day the USS Cole was attacked."

Are you sure about the attack date on the USS Cole? As I recall, last month, there was an anniversary memorial. I saw it on television. I believe the Cole was attacked October 12, 2000 or thereabout.

On one page, under the title Explosivija za Oklahomu, the owner of the notebook had scribbled formulas with inscriptions in English for TNT, ammonium nitrate and nitro-glycerine. The Oklahoma bomb was made from ammonium nitrate and fuel oil.

That title, Explosivija za Oklahomu, appears to be in a Slavic language, Serbocroatian, presumably. Suggests that the people expected to read this section of the manual are Bosnian Muslims, as I don't imagine any other speakers of Serbocroatian would be likely to take part in a jihad. I think we need to find out what Bosnians, Albanians, and other European-looking people have attended the terror camps in Afghanistan.

By the way, speaking of the terrorists' future tactics, did you notice that Jarrah's mailing to his girlfriend in Germany included documentation of his flying and diving lessons? I think a lot of our nuclear power stations are on the seashore or on rivers.
