Terrorist activity unlikely. It was reported that an engine came off the plane as it was approaching the runway.

FAA now saying the plane was an Air Bus and was leaving JFK for Santo Domingo.

With a Level One Emergency, I suspect, and strongly hope, is that the DOD has thrown the Air Cap up over metropolitan New York.

With all three airports closed, we have no business not putting fighter aircraft overhead. Just in case.
