Zogby Poll: Should Mr. Bush do the right thing and resign the Presidency to the winner, as ordained by the media, Al Gore? /sarcasm or story to be true?I know this is just a joke, but even if it weren't: Gore could not merely be appointed President by Congress after a Bush resignation. There's only one way it could work:
1) Cheney resigns. (The President cannot fire the VP.)
2) Bush appoints Gore to be VP.
3) Congress approves Bush's choice of VP.
4) Bush resigns, making Gore President.
Thus, Bush couldn't make Gore President even if he wanted to, because he'd be at Cheney's mercy. And (3) would never happen even if Cheney did agree to resign.
The facts are, no matter how wild a scenario you want to conjure up, Gore can never become President, at least not before January 2005 (if he gets very very very VERY lucky).

I hadn't visited the RATS in awhile. Those little scamps. Here is a brilliant analysis ---
"Given the current crisis faced by this country, the ONLY honorable thing for Bush to do is to save face for America in the eyes of the world by stepping down. Bush is NOT the President. He needs to do the right thing."
To live in a world of delusion must be so pleasant. The rest of us are worried about a war.

I saved all my punched chads from the last election we had in Oregon.
I put them in a envelope and mailed them to Florida with a letter asking them to tell me what I initatives I voted on
and which way I voted.
So far no answer.

Oh come on I didn't have to go there to find it. Here it was posted on this thread.
Anyway, what worries me is that Bush is going to feel so emasculated that he'll do something incredibly boneheaded in order to keep the country in his corner. I know, there's lots of people around him to keep him from actually doing anything (visions of Martin Sheen in - that Stephen King movie with Christopher Walken ) But he certainly can continue to mouth off about crusades, and threats, like he did with North Korea.

"The call is the reality." You social-constructivist you. Freeper goes PoMo -- Now I've seen everything. The Secretary of State has the final say so. It doesn't follow that she can't get it wrong. What does follow is that no one has standing to reverse her if she does.

Well, okay, there is ONE other way: Bush could resign, making Cheney president. Then Cheney picks Gore as VP, etc etc. Just as unlikely.
This shows the need for a voter system that is honest. A national voter card.
Respect for our troops over seas, instead of throwing out their votes, like Clinton did!!!
This shows no respect for America's present problems, by the commie media!!!

"The current action in Afghanastan was specifically authorized by a vote of the Congress." Was it? I must have missed the mention of Afghanastan. BTW: If we don't even know how to describe "the current action" it's hard to imagine how specific a resolution could have been in authorizing it.

And Wisconsin? New Mexico? ect ect ect

I'm glad to see that the RATS have such a fine grasp of the Constitution./sarcasm off.

It's not as if we didn't ALL live through that MESS! Now they think they're going to tell us who won?! HAHAHAHA! If they weren't so IGNORANT it would be funny. They have no clue that they are turning more people off than they are winning over because of these assinin "reports". They spent millions of dollars (and how much time)for what exactly?
Would someone please let them know that FOX NEWS is beating their heads in by reporting news while the rest of them are in Florida counting chads. While your at it also tell them there is a war going on and even Geraldo thinks it's important enough to report on it. What a bunch of losers. If you didn't think they were biased before this, HELLO!

[RATbag anal-ysis:] "Given the current crisis faced by this country, the ONLY honorable thing for Bush to do is to save face for America in the eyes of the world by stepping down. Bush is NOT the President. He needs to do the right thing."Funny, I thought the only honorable thing is for these RATS to shut up and let us concentrate on the war.
And somehow, I doubt the idiot that wrote that would be one bit happier with a Cheney presidency. Or does he/she/it really believe that a Bush resignation would lead to a Gore coronation?
Assuming Gore would even take the job, which - judging from his latest comments - he would not.

By media/Dem counting standards we must add the ~700 Liberty University (Falwell's school) students from Florida that never received their absentee ballots. All those easy to eat chads....and Gore's higher than statistically probable Dem. votes in the punch card counties, seniors in a coma helped into voting for Gore in the nursing homes, tossed military, allowed felon, double votes, illegal citizen votes, VNS....the media is either truly stupid, or downright diabolical (or both). I would punch a NY Times reporter right now, HARD!

I don't know what I was thinking. I thought the same rules applied to everyone...
I guess the rules only apply if you are the winner
Gore lost so they make up a new set of rules. How communist of them
To All :-
If Al Sore really wanted to be President, then he should have won his own home state of Tennesee .
No home state win = No Presidency. ( Period)

Excellent retort - very well said. But it will not stop the Presstitutes from doing their "duty" to report this garbage.
I challenge every Free Republic member to do the following tomorrow:
Contact any news media outlet to rebut this carnival, outrageous "media" recount with the facts of your posts (or if we can get a documented, linked, page here with how Florida was an overwhelming victory for GW Bush - if the Dems had not tried to use fraud to overturn the actual election there - and challenge them to either repudiate this "media" recount (say they had not part it in and do not stand by it in any way and will report same on their "fair and balanced" news program.
If they toss your challenge off as so much peasant noice - let them know that you will be contacting their advertisers and letting them know that their media outlet stands by a claim by "the media" that President Bush is not the legitimate President of this country.

I saved all my punched chads from the last election we had in Oregon. I cast a vote for Gore on November Seventh...it was on toilet paper and you couldn't really make his name out...but hey, my INTENT was there! That's a coherent standard right? INTENT of the voter? aka mind reading? Somehow I thought we'd already fought this battle. Oh yeah, we did, and we won, and we should've.
