Hard Times for Gun Control Group?
(CNSNews.com) - The post-Sept. 11 climate has been good for gun sales and bad for gun control groups. In a letter to supporters, Sarah Brady of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says, "Regretfully...we have been forced to make significant cutbacks in our programs, threatening our ability to fight for a safer America." She said a "forced downsizing and restructuring" has forced the group lay off about 20 percent of its staff. The letter goes on to solicit funds, and it says a generous donor has agreed to partially match contributions received in the next 30 days. As a further inducement to would-be donors, the Brady Campaign says, "There is compelling evidence that terrorists are stockpiling high-powered weapons and ammunition obtained from unregulated gun markets in this country, such as gun shows." Gun rights groups scoff at such claims. Press reports on Friday said gun sales are skyrocketing in areas affected by the Sept. 11 attacks. Scroll News This Hour for Details and See Earlier Story

NY Times runs a politically correct column for "modern problems", good for a laugh, I cant remember the title but one column said that guns are not needed, that all we have to do is "rely on the policeman, standing RIGHT BEHIND YOU" looks like that idiotic line of thought doesn't hold up to the real world.

"People would be a lot better off going and talking to a counselor, a minister, a priest or a rabbi, because what people are looking for is peace of mind and security, and you won't find that in a gun." I dunno. I get considerable peace of mind and security from having a gun within easy reach.

When the rapist or burglar is breaking into the bedroom window, there's no time to call the priest, etc., unless he lives right next door and is armed. The first line of defense is my night-stand gun. These people are idiots. Sept 11 demonstrated just how hollow is the culture of passivity that these morons have been pushing. The idea that, "If we are kind and don't harm others, then others won't harm us" is untenable in today's (and yesterday's) world. My motto is "I'll leave you alone as long as you don't mess with me and mine (including my country), otherwise you are going to run into a lot of hot lead."

That's wrong! What a horrible thing to say. That is what gives the gun-grabbers leverage in their arguments. Sure, I think that the Brady's are disgusting people. But, the same constitution that guarantees our right to own firearms, guarantees them the right to stupidity and free speech in all of it's forms.
Loose lips sink ships.

The Brady Boob and her ilk tenaciously cling to a phoney belief system even in the face of hard evidence to the contrary. If one studies the details of the history of gun control and gun control laws in this country, one might come to the conclusion that
the increase in all levels of crime parallels the increase in the number of gun laws.
Therefore, the gunophobes are either fools, fanatics, or money-grubbing whiners. They are also consumate liars and shakedown artists, although not on a par with the right reverend J. Jackson and his Brainless Mush Coalition, they are pretty good at wringing money out of wealthy coporate sponsers. We must continue to educate America and stop their flow of funding.

< sarcasm > Oh, how the kind and thoughtful lady selflessly parades her brain-damaged husband around to make the country a safer place....for the children. < /sarscasm >
Well, lets see....Wheeling around her husband didn't help and, at least I hope, people have gotten sick and tired of everything being "for the children" so now it's the midle eastern terrorists hanging out at the gun shows, stockpiling high powered guns and ammo. Some people know no shame.

I don't particularly care if they lie or take stupid people's money, or whine. But what I do care about is that they are proposing legislation and drumming up support for it that violates my rights - worse than liars or whiners, they are traitors who are enemies of the US and its citizens. That is what I care about.

Money grubbing is certainly a part of it. One always has to be suspicious of a group organized to solve some particular problem when the actual solution to that problem would result in the disappearance of their source of livelihood. The perfect example of such an orgaization is the Southern Poverty Law Center of Morris Dees. Morris Dees' sister is the founder of the Million Mom March, which has just joined forces with Brady's group.
In spite of repeated exposure of the true nature of Dees group in major media, Dees is still treated by that same media as a credible advocate of civil rights and an expert on "right wing hate groups". He is a total fraud. He collects money at a far greater rate than he spends on his ostensible "cause" and has a nest egg now well in excess of $50,000,000. His sister apparently doesn't share his talent in that line.

"There is compelling evidence that terrorists are stockpiling high-powered weapons and ammunition obtained from unregulated gun markets in this country, such as gun shows."Ho Hum. They keep saying it, but it doesn't seem that anyone is buying it. Now let's think about this shall we? Terrorist cells holed up in the lower 48 have gone on a buying spree at local gun shows, buying all manner of un-regulated weapons. Really? Now this statement is a very shrewd example of what the gun-grabbers do. They throw it out there to make the people who have never been to a gun show believe that these things are some sort of arms bazaar where anyone with the cash can buy machine guns, rocket launchers and flame throwers, no questions and no ID. Of course all of us here know that this isn't the case. A dealer at a gun show must go through the EXACT same procedures that any other dealer does. Oh, and usually when people say they have compelling evidence, that compelling evidence is more than just saying they have compelling evidence. CALL!! Let's see your cards Sara!!!
This statement also goes to illustrate the extreme arrogance of the leftists. For Sara Brady to say that her organization is the only group in this country concerned for safety, well it's just pure unadulterated BS! How many members is it that you have Sara?? Compared to the NRA's 4+ million now? Oh, but Sara, please do keep it up, maybe you can get another million members in the NRA before your little organization goes bankrupt. The proof is in the pudding, is what my grandaddy used to always say. Tell me again about these cuts you are making.
