Sorry, no transcript as of now. Video only. Worth the effort to view.
The video provides a look at this compound in the foothills above Fresno, CA. Pre 9-11, a Fresn County Sheriffs deputy was killed by a member of this peaceful Islamic community. The suspect (in the beginning trial phase still) broke into a empty nearby foothill home, when deputies arrived this guy was lying in the hallway floor with a rifle, and killed one deputy. This video is the first investigative reporting we have had on this Islamic community. The trail leads to FUQRA, a known terrorist group operating all over the world, and have several communities such as this one all over the USA. Here is an excerpt from an article of the Sacramento Bee...
(Published Sept. 30, 2001)
There is no evidence that the Fresno group has been involved in any terrorist activities, officials say.
The group, according to a federal source, is part of Fuqra, an organization whose name means "poverty" in Arabic and which has had compounds in several U.S. areas.
Some Fuqra members in other areas have been implicated in past years in domestic terrorist attacks, and the State Department has labeled the group, known formally as Jamaat ul-Fuqra, as "an Islamic sect that seeks to purify Islam through violence."
The group south of Fresno operates an 1,800-acre compound called the International Quranic Open University, which sits on the former site of the drug addiction recovery cult Synanon.
The compound, a series of mobile homes shaded by trees, also serves as a U-Haul rentals location. A resident there last week refused to talk to a reporter, referring inquiries to a Visalia attorney who did not respond to a message seeking information.
Authorities have been studying the compound since the Aug. 21 slaying of Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Erik Telen. Officials charged 20-year-old Ramadan Abdur-Rauf Abdullah with murder in the killing, apparently stemming from a botched burglary at a rural home.
James Oppliger, Fresno County's chief deputy district attorney, said the suspect claimed he had been living at the compound seeking psychiatric treatment from the Quranic university.
Oppliger said he since has begun studying the group and its possible connections to other organizations.
(Zavia Books) is the bookstore for this Islamic compound. It is called Koranic Open University. Note the books being sold. One of them is prefaced by ( Sheik Mubarik Ali Shah Jilani [Gilani]) a known terrorist. The trail leads from Baladullah (actually Miramonte, CA) to Pakistan, where Sheik Gilani lives. He is the head of Fuqra.
The wording of the statement Pierce read describing the incident was precise and formal, beginning with reports to sheriff's dispatchers of a suspicious person at 4:45 p.m. and ending with Abdullah's arrest.
But Pierce read slowly and paused frequently, shouldering emotions over the first Fresno deputy sheriff to die at the hands of another since 1908.
Answering questions from the media, the sheriff described Telen, who was married with two daughters and expecting a third child, as someone who cared deeply for his family: "He was personable, great smile. He loved the work, a Christian. He was a good guy."
Telen was pronounced dead Tuesday night at Sierra Kings Hospital in Reedley, where he was transported -- first in a patrol car, then transferred to an ambulance, Pierce said.
Pierce said the two other officers on the scene at the time of the shooting, and the helicopter crew and SWAT officers who retrieved Telen and arrested Abdullah, followed department guidelines: "Let me share with you, all the officers did exactly what they were trained to do. They have an obligation and a duty to serve this community, and they are at risk all the time. They followed techniques and training to the letter."
Pierce wiped away tears as he added, "There were no shortage of heroes last night."
Telen, who had been with the department 2 1/2 years, previously served on the Ontario police force in southern California. He was part of the Fresno County sheriff's detail assigned to assist in traffic control and safety at the Dunlap forest fire.
The incident took place at a home in the 36000 block of Highway 180, about a half-mile east of Dunlap Road. The house is set about a quarter-mile off the highway.
Sheriff's Lt. Don Burk said at the scene Tuesday night that the suspect had access to six to 10 shotguns, rifles and handguns inside the home as well as ammunition for all of the weapons.
Burk added about the suspect: "It's truly unknown who he is, and what set him off."
Sheriffs deputies, California Highway Patrol officers and the Fresno Police Department's SWAT team and its armored vehicle responded to the scene. A law enforcement negotiation team also aided in the capture of the suspect.
Authorities hadn't identified the homeowners.
The incident started late Tuesday afternoon when neighbors saw a man acting in a suspicious manner on the property, Burk said. The neighbors confronted the man, but he threatened them.
Neighbors called the Sheriff's Department about 4:45 p.m. Two deputies detailed to a nearby forest fire were dispatched to the home for a reported burglary in progress, Greening said.
Meanwhile, the daughter of the homeowners was contacted. She met the deputies at the home and said that her parents were away from the residence, Burk said. The woman noticed that a window screen had been removed and the window broken. Greening said neighbors told deputies who responded that the man they confronted had approached another neighbor asking for food; when he was denied, he was seen approaching the home where the shooting took place.
The two deputies entered the home about 7 p.m. As they entered a hallway, they encountered gunfire from the heavily-armed intruder, Burk said.
As they retreated, the deputies returned gunfire, but it was not known if the suspect was struck.
The Bee's Edward R. Jimenez and Pablo Lopez contributed to this report. The reporter can be reached at mbenjamin@fresnobee.com or 441-6330.
BTW: In Ramalamadingdongs court appearance last week or so, his lawyer is saying he cannot possibly get a fair trial since the Terrorist attacks!
Let's see now, I wonder what would make the defense attorney think that? hmmm.
" Just inside the compound's front gate are about eight trailer homes. There is also an office serving as headquarters for a U-HAUL TRUCK RENTAL BUSINESS run by the Muslim villagers."
Isn't that interesting?
Here's a little snippet from a Dec.2000 article, at foreignaffairs.org........
JIHAD INTERNATIONAL, INC.
If madrasahs supply the labor for "jihad," then wealthy Pakistanis and Arabs around the world supply the capital. On Eid-ul-Azha, the second most important Muslim holiday of the year, anyone who can afford to sacrifices an animal and gives the hide to charity. Pakistani militant groups solicit such hide donations, which they describe as a significant source of funding for their activities in Kashmir.
Most of the militant groups' funding, however, comes in the form of anonymous donations sent directly to their bank accounts. Lashkar-i-Taiba ("Army of the Pure"), a rapidly growing Ahle Hadith (Wahhabi) group, raises funds on the Internet. Lashkar and its parent organization, Markaz ad-Da'wa Wal Irshad (Center for Islamic Invitation and Guidance), have raised so much money, mostly from sympathetic Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia, that they are reportedly planning to open their own bank.
..........................Many of these families receive financial assistance from the militant groups. The Shuhda-e-Islam Foundation, founded in 1995 by Jamaat-e-Islami, claims to have dispensed 13 million rupees to the families of martyrs. It also claims to provide financial support to some 364 families by paying off loans, setting them up in businesses, or helping them with housing. Moreover, the foundation provides emotional and spiritual support by constantly reminding the families that they did the right thing by donating their children to assist their Muslim brethren in Kashmir. Both Lashkar-i-Taiba and Harkat have also established charitable organizations that reward the families of martyrs -- a practice common to gangs in inner-city Los Angeles and terrorist groups such as al Qaeda and Hamas. Although these foundations provide a service to families in need, they also perpetuate a culture of violence.
.........................Many of the militant groups associated with radical madrasahs regularly proclaim their plans to bring "jihad" to India proper as well as to the West, which they believe is run by Jews. Lashkar-i-Taiba has announced its plans to "plant Islamic flags in Delhi, Tel Aviv, and Washington." One of Lashkar's Web sites includes a list of purported Jews working for the Clinton administration, including director of presidential personnel Robert Nash (an African American from Arkansas) and CIA director George Tenet (a Greek American). The group also accuses Israel of assisting India in Kashmir. Asked for a list of his favorite books, a leader of Harkat recommended the history of Hitler, who he said understood that "Jews and peace are incompatible." Several militant groups boast pictures of burning American flags on their calendars and posters.
The man accused of shooting and killing Fresno County sheriff's deputy Erik Telen in a rural home Tuesday could face the death penalty if the case goes to trial.
Charges filed Thursday against Ramadan Abdur-Rauf Abdullah, 20, by the District Attorney's Office open the possibility of the death penalty being sought, said James Oppliger, chief deputy district attorney in the homicide unit.
The crime meets state penal code requirements because it was committed during a burglary and while a peace officer was carrying out his duty.
Abdullah is in Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder of a peace officer and three charges of attempted murder. Because of the nature of the crime, Abdullah is not eligible for bail, Oppliger said.
"I may very well add other charges," he said.
Those charges may include an enhancement of lying in wait for his victim and one or two more charges of attempted murder on peace officers while they were on duty.
Abdullah is scheduled to be arraigned today.
A source close to the investigation confirmed Abdullah lived in the Tulare County community of Badger, about 10 miles southeast of the shooting site near Dunlap, in an 1,800-acre village operated by a Muslim organization.
A teen-age boy serving as a sentry at the front gate (freepers keep in mind this is pre 911) of the village's entry Thursday said Abdullah had been staying there. The teen-ager wouldn't say when Abdullah left. Abdullah has family living in or near Binghamton, N.Y., the FBI confirmed Thursday.
"I'm not here to answer questions," said the boy, dressed in camouflage fatigue-style pants and a beige button-down shirt. "He was here, but he left."
An adult came to the gate later and also said he would not answer questions about the shooting or the compound, which he described as the "Muslim village of Baladullah."
"The people here are living peacefully," the man said. "We're being cooperative with the Sheriff's Office and they have all information."
Just inside the compound's front gate are about eight trailer homes. There is also an office serving as headquarters for a U-Haul truck rental business run by the Muslim villagers.(anyone want to follow that trail??)
The teen-ager wouldn't allow reporters to enter the office.
Another sign in front advertised the village's International Quranic Open University. "We have many things inside," the man said.
Just beyond the gates and a waist-high barbed wire fence, a group of children could be seen tending to goats. Dozens of junked cars and other mechanical equipment were strewn nearby.
One neighbor of the compound said she often hears automatic and other types of gunfire and has made "four or five reports to the sheriff's office."
Tulare County sheriff's Capt. Gary Harris, however, said the Muslim village has not been a burden to his department.(..if you ignore concerned citizens reports, and keep sleeping...no burden here)
"We have not had any crimes or calls for service that are uncommon for foothill areas of Tulare County," said Harris, the department's operations commander. "We have no investigations going on up there."(Note: it was a Fresno County Deputy Sheriff that was killed)
Miramonte Postmaster Ken Williams said members of the organization often receive packages and "have always been polite."
"It's a little bit secretive, not in a bad sense, but they are kind of private," he said.
Earlier this year, James Hobson, who was staying at the Badger encampment under the name Umar Abdussalam, was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's Service in downtown Fresno. He was wanted for allegedly smuggling guns between New York and South Carolina Link to another Fuqra member arrested for gun smuggling
Baladullah is not the only Muslim community in the area. (Surprise, Surprise) Authorities say Abdullah may have been visiting a similar, smaller community in Dunlap on the day Telen, a 26-year-old father of two, was shot inside a resident's home into which the suspect had fled.
Other Muslims in Fresno County's foothills were surprised to learn the suspect was from the Badger compound.
"I was in shock," said Shadya Morgan, a Squaw Valley resident. "If you believe in God, you don't kill nobody. People will claim they are this or they are that, but only God knows."
Thousands of officers from across the state are expected at Telen's memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday in Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar Ave. in Fresno.
There will be many millions of dead moslems before that ever happens.
Asked for a list of his favorite books, a leader of Harkat recommended the history of Hitler, who he said understood that "Jews and peace are incompatible."
So there it is: Hitler and the moslem jihadist radicals agree: all the Jews must die.
Nah. Nothing here. Push the snooze button....again. ZZZZZzzzzzz........
Isn't that interesting?
Yes it is. I noticed that earlier. I don't like it.
Sorry, but after 9-11 we are not laughing. Please read some of this thread, particularly the linked article at #162, about the extent of terrorist training camps operational today in America. Or just read the last ten or so replies with their information.
You call it "silliness"?
It does not matter whether these maniacs CAN IN REALITY ever "plant the islamic flag" in Washington. What matters is that a very significant % of the islamic world supports Osama, who has unleashed "weapons of mass destruction" in New York in this insane jihad, and no doubt will detonate nukes here if he can obtain them.
You call it "silliness"? We are heading into World War Jihad with the maniacs so abundant within your religion, and you consider it "silliness"?
A widespread network of islamic terrorist training camps in the USA, and even wider networks of sleeper terrorist cells, and you call it "silliness" after Atta and 9-11?
Weapons of mass destruction being used by your insane co-religionists is not "silliness".
If you sane moslems cannot get a tight grip on your insane mass murder bent fellow moslems, then the entire world is going to suffer a scourge not seen since at least 1945, on both sides. And that's not "silliness".
Hey, the Bee got the name right at least. It's in Badger.
As responsible citizens of this nation, which I gather you are, it is our duty to make this known, so that we can be prepared and perhaps save a few thousand lives if it should come to that.
Certainly I would expect that the government knows about this, maybe even your Turkish government knows, but I am convinced that they also knew there were those terrorists cells in Florida BEFORE Sept.11.Unfortunately, their knowledge didn't stop the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon. Perhaps if citizens had known a little more and had put pressure on said government to do something about this, lives could have been saved. In fact, I have read statements of people who had been in contact with some of the highjackers who are saying after the fact, "If only I had said something, if only I had done more, etc."
The example of flight 93 looms large here, when the passengers on that flight knew the intentions of their murderers, they acted and possibly saved thousands more from death.
We honor them as heroes, yet when we see possible danger ourselves we should just not waste our time or yours on this "silliness?"
I was also dodging bullets during the cold war. Millions of us were. Many Americans did not dodge them, and died.
I am unimpressed that the CIA, DIA, FBI, DEA, NSA, NRO, ATF etc are "on the case" after these islamic terrorist cells spreading like cancer in America. These same agencies were proven to be entirely incapable of protecting the Cole, the World Trade Center, or the Pentagon, even though many of the principals involved in those and other terrorist attacks were well known in advance, and warnings were given and warnings went unheeded. So those agencies being theoretically "on the case" does not comfort me, they were "on the case" before 9-11 as well, and failed. Those agencies are also "on the case" after the source of anthrax, with zero results.
So believe me, we do not have blind faith in our government "alphabet agencies" to protect us from the next mega murder attack by insane death cult islamists.
In the last event, we have more faith in our ten million scoped deer rifles to protect us from mad dog murderous moslems hidden smiling among us, carefully pretending "moderation" the same exact way Mohammed Atta did.
We know about "Al Taqiyah", or blessed deception in the advancing of Islam, and we see right through it.
