The Presidential Prayer Team has asked that I relay this information to my friends and colleagues so that it will reach its goal of enlisting 2.8 million people (1% of the population) to pray daily for the President.
I recommend that you join this effort and provide encouragement to the President in this way. The President will be notified of your involvement. There is no fee or obligation and your name will be kept confidential. You'll receive a free Presidential Prayer Team window decal in the mail and email updates on the specific prayer needs of the President and his Cabinet.
To sign up, go to http://www.PresidentialPrayerTeam.org - It will only take a minute of your time.
The Presidential Prayer Team is an independent, non-profit effort to rally concerned citizens to pray daily for the President. It is not associated with any specific religious, political or governmental organization or individual. Names and addresses of members will never be used for any other purpose or solicitation.

It's a relatively old (wrt September 11)
urban legend. Dunno what it's doing still making the rounds.
That's not to say that this "Office of the Presidential Prayer Team" isn't completely fabricated -- the website indicates that something by that name exists -- but there isn't any actual office of such in the US government.

This is a quote from the Urban Legend website:
...in mid-October, the Presidential Prayer Team placed a disclaimer on its site stating that it "is an independent, nonprofit, non-partisan effort designed to encourage a national outpouring of daily prayer for the President" and that it "was not formed by an agency of the government, nor does it receive funding from the government."
Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I belong to that Presidential prayer team. It's legit. They send you a weekly prayer request from the President, scripture reading, etc. I think I got it from CBN.ORG but can't really remember. Try http://www.presidentialprayer team.org/register.asp to register for it. "This week's prayer focus is on key leaders who advise and assist the President, particularly VP Cheney. Pray for his continued health and safety. Also pray for Attorney General, John Ascroft, and Secretary of Homeland Security, Thomas Ridge, as they battle new terrorist threats"... It's a good way to pray for our nation in a focussed way.

I joined up with the Presidential Prayer team several weeks ago. I get e-mail updates each week, and it's definitely a good thing. Nearly half a million people signed up for it in the first few weeks of its existence.
The President and his family feel the power of prayer behind them, and it's critically important that we keep it up!
Also, don't forget to check out DittoJed2's wonderful Pray for President Bush thread that comes up every afternoon!

Thanks. I also signed up at the beginning. I am shocked at the number !! Just imagine half a million of us kneeling before our God praying for our President. What a remarkable thing to behold.
