I see this as blah blah blah and I am beginning to think some of the UK newspapers are the Clinton's propaganda mouthpieces. Once published in the UK, then the NYTimes is ready to take it up.

I don't know why GW has done this, but I'm willing to give him a pass. I DO know that we still don't have Clintons records even his medical records. I'll pay more attention to this "outrage" when they take on Clinton first.

Regards, Jen. Thanks for the post.

Open the archives. What are the government hiding? what are they afraid of? Why is our president letting this happen? More truth, more honesty in OUR government (we had to pay for it!!!)- not less. Please.

Frankly, I've worried about Clinton material being released, material that could affect this current war.

Many assumptions are being made about the why of this order by the President. I believe he's made it to protect the nation's security.

The Democrats and liberals in general haven't any sense of American security. They just want to do what they want to do when they want to do it.

I trust Bush's intentions with this order.

It's our government, we pay for it. We have a right to be lied to and kept in the dark. Besides, most of this stuff no doubt deals with Afghanistan and the drug/arms deals. It would be easy for a Bush to think of reasons to avoid that stuff.

There's one possibility why GW has writtin the EO to limit access to presidential archives...the Clinton "library". Clinton is such a self-serving bast*rd, he has shown no compunction in allowing access to top secret military info already. Without this, what would stop Clinton, in his quest for a powerful and glorious legacy as Emporer of the United States, to use use presidential documents to:

A: Slam previous administrations so that public opinion could be turned against the party with which those administrations are affiliated.

B: Pull a Jimmy Carter, ie: release classified military information about military hardware developed during his administration in a bid to get himself or Hillary or Al elected?

I may be completely off-base here, but my guess is this has more to do with protecting Reagan than with Bush the first. Imagine the press being able to re-examine President Reagans' notes, decide what it all meant without having the President to defend his actions.

Just a hunch.

Fury as Bush keeps key to the archives

AHA!!

Looking forward to the new improved search abilities for dumpster divers like myself ... though, once they're back up, I'm assuming Google will again perform at optimum as in the past. =)

Anyone remember the emails that never got archived by the Clinton administration? Wonder if those were meant to be destroyed? Are these papers handwritten or stored on computer? Wonder what else might have been accidently deleted (besides emails) in all those computers by the Clintons? No wonder Clinton is so comfortable speaking out, huh?
