My good friend and Free Republic regular Jeff Head spoke with me on the phone this afternoon with the great news that Pocket PCpress, a major publisher of electronic books, has expressed strong interest in Jeff's recently completed work of fiction Breath of Fire, a tale of the coming third world war. Mr. Doug Clapp of PocketPCpress wrote in his endorsement on Jeff's website:
"My company, PocketPCpress, gets to see a ton of novel submissions. Most are truly terrible...which is sad. We wish it weren't so.
We recently had the good fortune to read Dragon's Fury-Breath of Fire by Jeff Head and -- for the first time in a long, long while -- we were absolutely knocked out.
Don't be mislead by the fact that -- for now -- this is a self-published book offered only on the author's website. I'm sure this won't be the case for long. This is an amazingly accomplished, professional, techno-thriller that will make you turn page after page after page -- and enjoy every minute of it.
I could go on about plotting and characterization and all that, but I won't. This is simply a hellava great read and "right on" about what's happening in the world today. Tom Clancy now has some serious, serious competition."

Jeff went on to mention that Mr. Clapp has also put him in contact with a New York literary agent who has requested expedited delivery of a complete hard copy manuscript in anticipation of possible print publication. For those of you who may not have seen the initial announcement, excerpts from Jeff's book Breath of Fire can be found here.
This is a most noteworthy and laudable achievement and a source of pride for all of us here. It is also even further evidence that Free Republic is the beacon of American liberty which both attracts and stimulates the brightest minds to be found on the net or anywhere. Congratulations to you, Jeff !
Now.......... will this be the first offering in the Free Republic Book Club?! :-]
And a "thrilled for you" bump to the top!
Okay, now I need to know ... which way do you get the most money, Jeff? If I buy it from you, or from the prospective new publisher? :-)
Will call later tonight or tomorrow.
You GO, Jeff!
It's still a bit premature since no deal has been made. but still, it's good, hopeful news and I am grateful for it.
Regarding the FR Book Club, if such a thing ever materialized I would be happy to have the book in there. there are many more authors on FR much more accomplished than I who already have best sellers ... and theirs are not "fiction".
When you start sending them out, send me an autographed copy will ya??!!
SR
Just put the request in with your order on the page. There's a place on the order form for the printed book to put special requests or comments.
As long as I can, I will accomodate. If someone ever picks up on it and publishes it big time, my ability to do that sort of thing will get hammered.
Thanks for the congrats!

What will you write about next?
If I show up in person, can I get your autograph?
Love ya, bro!
I still don't believe my old John Henry adds a thing ... I guess I know myself better than others and have had my own failings clearly manifest through trying to raise a bunch of teenage kids (where I believe I learned more about life than I taught them) ... but, like I said ... to each his own. IOW, would I ask myself to sign it? ... Nope, LOL!
But I will accomodate the wishes of others as long as I can physically do so.
Regards bro, hope all is well with you and yours. I'll be through Illinois towards the end of next week on my way to see a grandson! Now that's humbling!

and click ont he pictures of the other four novels in this series. If I can keep on the every six months schedule I would like (and that's tight), I have another two years of writing already in store.
I already have all the others outlined, it's just a matter of greasing up the old elbows and putting pen to paper.
Doors open and the mat's out.
I'll be by Cheyenne on I-80 next Thurday night late, or Friday early ... maybe we can meet up there on the four lane. Jared (and maybe Jeff) will be with me.
Going to see a new grandson!
