Have you become fed up and tired of hearing about the pace of the war or reading articles such as this Krauthammer: Not Enough Might? With press like this we don't need to hear what the enemy is saying.
I am writing to all patriotic, freedom-loving individuals to ask for your help. We have all been made aware of our current concerns with terrorism and the possibility of a strike at any given time or place. In the midst of the heightened awareness of our safety and freedom being at stake, I am thankful that we have a President that has risen to the challenge of safeguarding America and the world. We live in interesting times, and an opportunity to make a difference. As President Bush stated that, Every American is a soldier, and every citizen is in this fight. And I am proud of our country. Our country is united and strong, and were prepared.
My reason for writing is to ask for your help in countering the medias insistence that we, Americans, are becoming impatient and want this present campaign of routing terrorism to be over. It is true; we would like a quick end. But we also, I believe, desire more to live secure in our homes with the ability to regain the continue assurance of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The vision that I would like to see would be billboards and placards that state our resolve as Americans on the home front, WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. WE HAVE TIME, WE ARE PATIENT, AND WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS. I believe that it would be supportive of our troops to affirm daily that we are still in the fight with them. The flags have brought healing at a time when we were wounded; I believe the billboards and placards would say were standing our ground no matter what we hear. Do we as American citizens have this level of resolve?
If theres a better mousetrap already created share it please. We cannot, I believe, continue to allow the media to define the present conflict of our survival or sway public opinion on the timetable.
Thanks for the ping, Snow Bunny.
The question is - how do we get them and their editors to listen? Of course, Rosie O was THE WORST bigmouth, as far as I was concerned, and look at her now: she loves the President. Even if it's phony, it's a beginning.
I will contribute money to a video or whatever will counteract the media's hysteria-producing output.
The lyrics comes to mind from Nightmare on Elm Street "Complacency is a poison taken one drop at a time, it fools the mind in thinking that everything is fine." I mentioned that because it seems bazaar with the latest alert of the bridges that each car is not being searched going across the bridge, or at least that is the latest info I've heard from MSNBC. At some point from 9/11/01 until now we've forgotten that these individuals will blow themselves up to accomplish their mission.
So, I said all that to say it was a concern of mine and I thought I would open it for discussion with others who might feel likeminded.
Thank God for those who are able to do the infinite freeps or the weekly get togethers against the peaceniks. But for the average joe or joette, such as myself what else can I do to keep a sustained focus on the end result when the media is telling us we should be tired by now.
I told you , already, what many people around here are doing, besides all of the flags. I think that those UNITED WE STAND signs are a great thing, and says so much , yet youchose to ignore that and , instead , focus o my billboard comment. Do you know how much it costs to rent a billboard and get a sign for it made ? It isn't cheap ! Also, many places do NOT have any billboards.
I'll tell you something else, NO ONE was so self absorbed during WW2 nor Korea , and there WERE isolationists and nay sayers during both of those wars.We need to take that era as an example.
Well, yes and no. I've had some professional experience in both presentations and distance learning (writing and all aspects of production) -- sophisticated multimedia stuff along with live on-air talent. However, I don't work in video production regularly. Kind of a jack-of-all-trades project guy, and I'm always open to offers! ;)
This would be a fun project. I have been refining it in my head since I got the idea last night. Open to ideas and criticisms at this point too.
This war is not WWII, Vietnam, nor the Gulf War.
Yet there have already begun the comparison's of Vietnam. That was before my time as well. But I believe what was happening on the home front made a pschological difference with our men/women in the service.
Please hear me I'm not taking a broad brush and painting all those in our News organizations or in the print media as being irresponsible. The articles in support are not equal to those in number of critism.
No Pardons thanks for your opinion.
Maybe if when people shop , they can say to the store people to put a sign in their window with a little flag they support our troops and President. That would be wonderful.Like even in small gift shops etc.I asked at the gym and there are other places one can ask.....vitamin stors , anywhere a person goes in running errands and their normal day.
Thank you so much for your post.
I am so glad to see you here though.
All of Bush's people are telling them at press conferences and briefings that the American people are solidly behind them and understand what kind of war this is. I don't watch broadcast news, except Fox, but I have noticed the reporter asking the questions trying to imply impatience and the coalition folding is Terry Moran of ABC News. If we could do a lot of letters to him accusing him of trying to ask questions to support their agenda of turning viewers toward negativism about the war it would get their attention.
