Indictment Made in Hijack Case

By LARRY NEUMEISTER, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Pictures of Osama bin Laden and videotapes about martyrs were found in the car and apartment of a college student from Jordan who knew two hijackers of the airliner that hit the Pentagon, prosecutors said in an indictment Thursday.

The indictment against Osama Awadallah, 21, was handed up in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where two perjury counts were brought against Awadallah last month.

According to the indictment, a search of Awadallah's car after he was taken into custody in September produced videotapes titled ``Martyrs of Bosnia,'' ``Bosnia 1993'' and ``The Koran v. the Bible, Which is God's Word?''

A search of Awadallah's apartment yielded computer-generated photographs of bin Laden, the indictment said.

Awadallah, 21, is a student at Grossmont College in La Mesa, Calif., near San Diego.

The indictment, returned late Wednesday and made public Thursday, charges Awadallah with two counts of perjury for allegedly lying about his association with hijackers Nawaf Al-Hazmi and Khalid Al-Mihdhar. The two have been identified by federal authorities as the hijackers of the airliner that hit the Pentagon on Sept. 11.

The indictment said a search of a car registered to Al-Hazmi produced a piece of paper on which was written ``OSAMA'' and a seven-digit phone number.

Prosecutors said the investigation into the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center and damaged the Pentagon, killing thousands of people, revealed that the seven-digit number, combined with the 619 area code used in the San Diego area, was a former telephone number assigned to Awadallah.

The telephone number found in the Al-Hazmi vehicle at the Dulles Airport in Virginia was mentioned when Awadallah made an initial court appearance after he was charged last month.

At the time, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Baker said Awadallah, ``by lying to the grand jury ... promoted terrorism.''

His lawyer, Jesse Berman, said he could not immediately comment Thursday.

Last month, Berman said his client had ``nothing to do with the terrible things that happened on Sept. 11.'' He said Awadallah, having identified one hijacker, had no reason to lie about another. ``He just wasn't sure on that name.''

Prosecutors said Awadallah identified Al-Hazmi in photographs during testimony Oct. 10, saying he saw him 35 to 40 times in the San Diego area between April 2000 and last January.

...and he's still here, why?

On the one hand, I want him tried and convicted, but right now I say deport the jerk. Maybe drop him off halfway into the Pacific Ocean and let Allah decide his fate. They seem pretty keen on that sort of thing.

Pericles, you back stabber you!

I voted for neither Tansu Ciller, nor Necmettin Erbakan.

The terrorist Osama Bin Laden has had contacts in and travelled to many countries, including the USA. Is that supposed to mean something earth shaking?

You obviously hate us Turks just as fervently as Osama and his thugs hate America (and by the way now Turkey).

If anyone should be interested, here are some links to other threads with arguments that diametrically oppose Pericles':

Pericles, what kind of sinister man are you to work to pit these folks against their ally Johnny Turk? Tisk, tisk, tisk you silly man.

I could care less about Greece. Greece was not involved in Bin Laden Gate like Turkey is, You might as well post about the opinions of El Salvadorians for all I care.

The way you write your English I know your not an American, I also suspect since you just joined (10/25) and since your bookmark includes that nicely worded factoid about Turkey, you have joined with maybe the proding of a pro-Turkish group of some sort.

Fine by me. I do not really push any Greek agenda, as far as I am concerned as soon as Greece joined the EU she is no longer an independent country but a state of Europe.

My fight is Kosovo, in Bosnia, in Chechnya that you Turks so love, in Albania and all the terror cells that the Clintonista global hegemonists used as agents to distabalize for their own agenda.

FACT 1) No Greek (even the drunk ones at soccer matches) committed Jihad against America.

FACT 2) No Serb (even those we bombed) committed Jihad against America.

FACT 3) Turkey has played host to Jihadist during the whole decade of the 90s up to this day.

PS: The fact that you posted those article makes me smile, because its proof that I got to you.

2 out of 3 aint bad.

Anyone even shook Osama bin Laden's hands is my enemy. For two years on this web forum I have been posting on what he and his "allies" have done.

Go ask your Turkish officials just how Osama was able to fly into Turkey without fear of arrest?

You can also ask your Turkish officials just how as revealed in the February 2001 East Africa bombing trial testimony of Jamal al Fadl -- an al Qaeda operative in charge of weapons development in Sudan -- uranium used in "dirty bombs" that release lethal radioactive material, had been tested in 1994 by members of the Sudan-based Islamic National Front in the town of Hilat Koko, in Turkish-held northern Cyprus. How many Turkish troops are stationed in Northern Occupied Cyprus? 30,000? How could they have missed a dirty nuke test? and how did Osama smuggle nuke material to Turkish occupied Cyprus?

If you ask these questions of your Turkish officials and live, let me know what their answer was.

Don't worry about them, right-wing Yanks are just trying to erase the fact that they armed and trained the Talibs and bin Laden in the first place. It was classic US imperialist arrogance that saw Stinger missiles end with Gulbuddin "Hezb-I-Islami" Hekmatyer ... missiles the CIA had to buy back at terrorist auctions. Similarly, the US was so taken in by the shifties at the ISI that unwittingly set up smack smuggling routes for Ahmed Shah Massoud. Right-wing Americans whinge about Bosnia and Kosovo now but ignore the fact that Clinton brought relative peace and stability to both nations where Bush Snr's efforts in Afganistan resulted in the Sept 11 attacks.

I attack (and have on record) both right and left for BIN LADEN GATE. Like Dole and McCain but blood is on the hands of Clinton and the orders he signed.

As for peace in Kosovo-the peace of the grave. More have died in Kosovo duroing NATO's "peace" mission then during the shooting war, and go ask FYRO-Macedonia about Clinton's peace dividend. Bosnia is a cesspool of Islamic terror.

Sure. I will also judge you by how you treat others. Can you judge A_turk according to the same standards you want others to apply to you?

The Turkish government had been called uncivilized by the liberals of Europe for not allowing that religion oriented parties run in elections. It was 30 years or so ago that our constitution was ammended to allow political parties gather votes using religion. The religious vote has been hovering around 20%. There being dozens of parties, and the secular right and left fragmented, and while the secular parties were all feuding, one center right party went to bed with the religionist party and formed a coalition government. That's part of what he is talking about.

The rest, I don't know what to make of.

The guardians of secular democracy in Turkey are the 80% that do not vote for religion, and that regional NATO powerhouse, the Turkish Army.

Adios.

The Turkish Army's special forces will smuggle Osama in disguise out of Afghanistan to be executed at ground zero by having a stick of dynamite shoved up where the stuffing goes.

According to the indictment, a search of Awadallah's car after he was taken into custody in September produced videotapes titled ``Martyrs of Bosnia,''....

The REAL martyrs of Bosnia are Serbian Christians who perished as the result of the satanic deal between the arch-muslim supremacist Izetbegovic and that wrinkled prune, Warren Christoper, which brought the shooting war to Bosnia in the first place!!!! It is that deal that abrogated the Lisbon peace agrement, calling for the peaceful partition of Bosnia.

The so-called "war criminal" Radovan Karadzic signed on to that agrement, while the NWO "ambassador" and his muslim client repudiated it!!! Who are the REAL war criminals?

Remember the Bosnian Serb martyrs who perished at the hands of the muslim savage cut-throat Nasir Oric and his minions! Remember the brave Serbian martyrs who died fighting NWO/muslim supremacist imperialism in all the Serbian lands!!!

This coming Sunday, in the Western calendar, is All Saints Sunday. On that day--of all days--all my fellow Western Christians are invited to join me in remembering these Serbian Christian martyrs, as well as the brave New York fire fighters and police who gave their lives to save so many victims of the World Trade Center attacks.

Fine by me. My rep (if I have any, out of the blue a_turk posts in my old postings-interesting I did not know anyone read them beyond a few) is based on the quality of my posts. Read the links and maybe you can help out with the answers or ask good questions yourself.
