A Contrast Between Mohammed and Christ

A Contrast Between Mohammed and Christ

Mohammed was the prophet of war; Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Mohammed's disciples killed for the faith; Christ's disciples were killed for their faith (Acts 12:2; 2 Tim. 4:7).

Mohammed promoted persecution against the "infidels"; Christ forgave and converted the chief persecutor (1 Tim. 1:13-15).

Mohammed was the taker of life; Christ was the giver of life (John 10:27-28).

Mohammed and his fellow warriors murdered thousands; Christ murdered none but saved many (compare John 12:48).

Mohammed method was COMPULSION; Christ aim was voluntary CONVERSION (Acts 3:19).

Mohammed practiced FORCE; Christ preached FAITH (John 6:29,35).

Mohammed was a WARRIOR; Christ is a DELIVERER (Col. 1:13; 1 Thess.1:10).

Mohammed conquered his enemies with the sword; Christ conquered his enemies with another kind of sword, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Heb. 4:12; Acts 2:37).

Mohammed said to the masses, "Convert or die!"; Christ said, "Believe and live!" (John 6:47; 11:25-26).

Mohammed was swift to shed blood (Rom. 3:15-17); Christ shed His own blood for the salvation of many (Eph. 1:7).

Mohammed preached "Death to the infidels!"; Christ prayed "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).

Mohammed declared a holy war (Jihad) against infidels; Christ achieved a holy victory on Calvary's cross (Col. 2:14-15) and His followers share in that victory (John 16:33).

Mohammed constrained people by conquest; Christ constrained people by love (2 Cor. 5:14).

Modern terrorists derive their inspiration from Mohammed and carry out their despicable atrocities in the name of his god; Christians derive their inspiration from the One who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9).

Modern day disciples of Mohammed respond to the terrorist attacks by cheering in the streets; modern day disciples of Christ are deeply grieved at past atrocities carried out by those who were "Christians" in name only (the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc.).

Many Muslims are peaceful and peace-loving because they do not strictly follow the teachings of their founder; many Christians are peaceful and peace-loving because they do strictly follow the teachings of their Founder (Rom. 12:17-21).

Mohammed called upon his servants to fight; Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight . . .but now is My kingdom not from here" (John 18:36)

Mohammed ordered death to the Jews (see A.Guillaume, The Life of Muhammad, Oxford University Press [1975], p. 369); Christ ordered that the gospel be preached "to the Jew first" (Rom. 1:16).

The Koran says, "Fight in the cause of Allah" (Qu'ran 2.244); the Bible says, "we wrestle not against flesh and blood" and "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal" (Eph. 6:12; 2 Cor. 10:4).

The Koran says, "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them" (Qu'ran 9.5); Christ said, "Preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

The Koran says, "I will inspire terror into the hearts of unbelievers" (Qu'ran 8.12); God inspires His terror into the hearts of believers (Isaiah 8:13).

The Koran (Qu'ran) is a terrorist manual which condones fighting, conflict, terror, slaughter, and genocide against those who do not accept Islam; the Bible is a missionary manual to spread the gospel of peace to all the world (Rom. 10:15).

Mohammed's Mission was to conquer the world for Allah; Christ's mission was to conquer sin's penalty and power by substitutionary atonement (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18).

Mohammed considered Christ a good prophet; Christ pronounced Mohammed to be a false prophet (John 10:10; Matt. 24:11).

Mohammed claimed that there was but one God, Allah; Christ claimed that He was God (John 10:30-31; John 8:58-59; John 5:18; John 14:9).

Mohammed's Tomb: OCCUPIED! Christ's tomb: EMPTY!

Are you saying that God's wrong in allowing Islam to flourish for 1400 years?

Are you saying that G-d is right to allow the mafia, the drug trade, the sex slave trade, and others too numerous to mention, to flourish?

G-d does allow evil to flourish. Just because men create something doesn't mean G-d wishes it to be created. Just because men tolerate something doesn't mean G-d wishes it to be tolerated. Just because men allow something to flourish doesn't mean G-d wishes it to flourish.

G-d could very well have allowed Islam to flourish to judge the Church. I am not claming that is what He has done, but it could be what He has done. Islam's relative strength and size are no indication of His approval.

Remember that Elijah stood alone against 450 prophets of Ba'al. By the end of the day, Elijah had put all 450 of them to the sword himself. Numbers didn't mean squat to G-d.

Boy was his arm tired.

If you really believe that Allah is G-d then one of us doesn't know G-d. It could be me, but I will have to be shown that it is.

Shalom.

Jerry Falwell, Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggart.

I'm unfamiliar with Islam's false prophets, but I'm sure they exist.

Don't confuse prophets with preachers.

I'd also disagree with you about their falseness. Fallenness, I agree with, but not falseness. Falwell, especially, does not belong in that group.

Shalom.

P.S. Wasn't it you who was judging Christians earlier for being judgemental? Isn't your post being judgemental against Falwell, Roberts, and Swaggart and all their students?

All humans, murderers, thieves, terrorists, housewives, overly-wordy FR posters, are worthy of the mercy, love and forgiveness of God.

In only this can you and I agree.

The study of religion is interesting and a mental challenge, but it is incomplete. You need to study G-d. To do that you must eventually leave the books behind and get to know Him personally. I'm not talking about a deity you made up in your mind, but the deity who is too big for you to ever imagine. He is so big that you can't even seek Him but must wait for Him to reveal Himself to you. You are as incapable of perceiving Him as the ant is of perceiving you. But He has made a way and you can know Him. Do you know Him?

Shalom.

It must be very humbling to be privvy to God's designs and His Will.

It is, and a great responsibility to boot. That's why Jesus judged the religious leaders of His day so harshly for abusing that knowledge.

Keep in mind, though, that it's not a private thing. You used the word 'privvy' as if only special people can know.

Everyone can know. It is one of G-d's gifts that He will give wisdome to all those who ask.

Shalom.

You confuse the actions of individual Americans - we can forgive our enemies - with the right actions of nations. While other nations have not so acted, our nation has set as a standard the defense and security of its people as a guiding principle. How can our nation refuse to protect its own citizens through the use of our "defense" capabilities and remain true to "treating our neighbor as we would ourselves be treated"?

He lied (Gen 2:17, 2 Sam. 7:13)

Says who?

Did you even read the verses in the list?

Genesis 2:17
"but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

2 Samuel 7:13
"He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Since you accuse God of lying, let's see your expert exegisis of these passages.

The Omnipotent Creator cares nothing for what you and I call Him.

Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know? Have you not heard? YHWH is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

Isaiah 42:8

"I am YHWH; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.

Cordially,

I don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah (being Jewish and all that)...

You say this like: being Jewish is your excuse for not believing that Jesus was/is the Messiah. Well, IMHO that's a pretty lousy excuse for dismissing the truth about Jesus. By the way, when you have the time, read Isiah 53. In the mean time, I'll be happy to pray for your salvation.

Re: 29. Been done. You are right, although no one wants to hear it. Funny we want the truth about everything except those things that have to do with ourselves.
At any rate, now is not the time for that argument. We must get down to the nubbins of this so-called religion of Islam. It is indeed an evil that has spread around the world, far worse than any virus you can think of, and far more hateful. It's Freddy Kruger with a beard on steroids.

While it is true that jargon and terminology have been the cause of many human conflicts, that fact does not validate the premise, "Names are of men, not of God." If there is relevant propositional revelation from the Creator in space/time history regarding His Name, then the premise is invalidated. If the premise is invalidated then there is indeed a conflict, not between you and me (I respectfully decline the opportunity to prove your point in that manner) but between you and your Creator.

Cordially,

Great post. Only have one beef with it. Concerning Jesus, it should be in the present, not the past tense.

Jesus is very much alive, seated at the right hand of the Glory on High, and active in the world by means of His Holy Spirit.
