Current polling numbers in Virginia (10/28) are: Warner (D) 41%, Earley (R) 31%, Undecided 28%. Source: Washington Post (of course I'm not providing a link to those idiots). I have seldom seen so many undecideds this close to an election

Yeah...that's a BS poll, everyone else has Earley trailing but within the margin of error. Of course, Warner has been spending so much money on the airwaves portryaing himself as a Fiscal Conservative that he's probably got a few people confused. Lynwood Holton's ads don't help either.

That's what I said a week ago, and everyone here told me to leave W alone.

I said the same thing and was told the war is more important. Like every other issue will just wait to be resolved until the war ends.

The good guys are ten points behind in both races, ten days before the election. Not good. Dubya needs to start stumping for Earley and Schundler.

Yes, as soon as possible.

If W really beliefs what he said on print( this letter), then W should not have any problem saying it on Tv Ad for Earley.
Well should he, I don't think so ?

Earley should understand exactly why President Bush is not engaging in any public politics right now. He understands what this country's up against better than any of us. He is serious about the need to unite the nation to fight the terrorists and he's right. Earley and every other politician needs to carry their own share of the national responsibilities. After 9-11, Republicans shouldn't need anyone else to explain to the public why our policies are better then the Dems.

Vote Life America members lined the sidewalks near state Rep. Maggie Crotty's Oak Forest office Saturday afternoon, despite previously being forbidden to gather there by village officials.

The group's organizers had to go to court Friday for an injunction allowing them to hold the demonstration after village officials informed them they had not completed a lengthy permit process.

Group member Jim Finnegan of Barrington said the ordinance requiring a permit to demonstrate or march was obviously unconstitutional.

"There's no question if it went to court, they would lose," he said. "This is America. (The ordinance) is totally against what the First Amendment says."

Oak Forest police stopped by once during the afternoon to warn the participants not to stand in the street on Cicero Avenue, where they were holding signs near 151st Street.

An officer said police received a call from someone who saw a group member in the street.

"Someone who knew of the (court injunction) called and stirred up the pot, I guess," Finnegan said after the officer left.

The VLA group said they staged their protest to point out to area residents Crotty's pro-choice voting record.

The group is known for staging demonstrations using graphic depictions of aborted fetuses. Saturday the group carried such posters alongside signs that read, "This is what Maggie Crotty voted for."

One VLA member, Fran Eaton of Oak Forest, said Crotty promised to support bans on the most extreme types of abortion, such as partial-birth abortion and the so-called live-birth abortions criticized publicly by those who object to the procedures performed at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

"She told me in my side yard when she was walking the precinct," Eaton said.

Crotty stated Friday she was pro-choice, adding, "I can't make everyone happy all the time."

Eaton said she was upset Crotty chose not to take sides during a vote on a bill requiring minors to inform a parent if they are seeking an abortion. Crotty also voted against a bill proposing to ban partial-birth abortions in Illinois.

The demonstration was planned by Eaton and Jill Stanek, a nurse at Christ Hospital who was fired shortly after a Daily Southtown article was published about her crusade to end "live-birth abortions."

Don't you think Bush has his hands full already?

Not if he has time for throwing out first pitches and trips to China. He can squeeze in a few hours here or there, if he wants.

Earley and every other politician needs to carry their own share of the national responsibilities.

That's difficult to do if your opponent wins the election.

Isn't there any other popular Republican who can step in to help these two good men out right now? Charlton Heston doesn't have to run a war....how 'bout bringing in Heather Locklear and Lee Greenwood. I'm not trying to be flip, but has there ever been a easier time in our lifetimes of getting public support for Republican policies of military preparedness, improving the schools, energy independence and the necessity and rightness of teaching and defending the Constitution and our nation both home and abroad? Never mind. I listen to the same news. Lets pause from our overseas bombing to bomb the US news bureaus and networks (kidding (^:).

I don't think President Bush will campaign for anyone while trying to unite the country behind this fight. How strongly are the state Republican parties involved in getting out the word? I know that the Dems. consider their last minute GOTV drives more important than even TV spots. They have people in every major city combing the neighborhoods, talking to the pastors, dragging folks to the polls, setting up full-time telemarketers in the 48 hours before and during election day. That's it. Save the resources 'til then and get as many bodies involved as possible.

Would you explain 'unfocused'?

As to the lawn signs, and bumper stickers --- they have constantly been ordered, reordered and sent out. We get numerous calls saying that they never see the lawn signs, but As soon as they are placed, they are removed by the McG people. They used to do it at night, but now they blatenly do it during the day. There was a group removing our signs yesterday, dressed all in black. Today, one of the staff wanted to confront another group, but they were BIG BURLY guys. What's a person to do? A group of the staff from HDQ did manage to bring charges against one McG person who was removing signs, but you can't patrol the entire state.

Have you been making phone calls, or helping with the flyers? I'm curious.

I think what Bush (Rove) is probably thinking is if they send Bush to NJ or VA and one of them still loses it may send the signal to the Dempcraps that even if Bush with 80% plus approval can't help they are in good shap. This would fire up their base and fundraisers big time. The state election is important to those who live in the state it doesn't do that much for the national plan. I bet they think Bush needs to go on the stump next year to get the Senate back for the GOP as this will get the the most bang for the buck.

You may not agree but I think they are looking at the bigger picture?

I forgot to add that I would love Schundler and Earley to win (#1 Schundler / #2 Earley) but NJ and VA are alot like the US --alot of lefties in a couple big cities and the rest are to the right !

Even is Shundler takes Trenton and Jersery City Newark is much bigger and mostly minorities who vote Democrap 90% of the time !

About the inner cities - A political buff went into inner Camden over the week-end. He passed out literature given to him by an assembywoman there, who has fired up the citizens. The 'buff', who is white, was well received, even tho he was in a difficult area. (drugs and stuff) He said they all knew who Schundler was and most of those whom he made contact with, were for Bret. He was totally surprised and uplifted by the reaction and felt that Bret will do well there.
