Well written article. More should have been made about the Methodist background Bush comes from now; that explains alot about how he reacts to things. The liberal Methodist church today bears little resemblance to the evangelical, bible believing entity it was in the 1700s - 1800s. Perhaps that is why more conservative Christians like independent Baptists will never fully trust Bush in the future. The anti-terrorism bill is filled with new law that will put conservative and bible believing Christians in peril in future. I have also read that GWB is very good friends and has had frequent prayer with TD Jakes and Rev. Robinson (I cannot recall his first name now.), both of whom are quite charasmatic/pentacostal. So, GWB is not sticking merely to his Methodist background. In fact, in an interview he did with Charisma and Christian Life Magazine back during the election standoff, he is quoted as saying that his dad is a Christian who sticks close to his denomination and never fully grasped the larger church. He on the other hand, expressed that he sees the body of Christ in many denominations and finds joy in fellowshipping across denominational lines.

T D Jakes and Billy Graham, both at the top of my list. Just discovered Jakes. I was with the author but the former drunk reference at the end was a little unkind but I guess he was trying to make a point.

In this case, then, he is being truly Wesleyan in his outlook.

and Rev. Robinson (I cannot recall his first name now.), His name is James Robison, and I am very glad these two are friends. Robison is from Texas. When W decided to run, Pastor Robison said W told him he'd "heard the call," he was going to run for president, and said James was the sixth person he called to tell. And he specifically called to ask James and Betty (his wife) to pray for him.
From what I've seen of James and Betty Robison, I really like them and their heart for God and His people. They seem very balanced, decent, and loving.
