ABC Radio News just reported that the coating on anthrax spores found in Sen. Daschle's office was the coating used by Iraq. Nothing further.

Re: Post 70. I'm esp. intrigued about your statement that Bin laden may be a goner and we're heading toward mop up duty there. That would be a positive development, but doesn't seem to fit with what's actually happening, unless we're all being led on a wild goose chase. Just today there were reports that GB is committing 4,000 special ops to the area and that a GB carrier was heading toward there. Unless...they're being put in place looking toward their use in a strike on Iraq--hmm. Politically, there doesn't seem to be a solution to who will be the governing body in Afghanistan--at least that info has not been publicly released.

Also, if Bin Laden is dead, would it be to the advantage of the Taliban to keep that a secret? I've wondered that. Would that info take the wind out of their sails or spur them on? I don't know.

I have never been convinced that someone named "Osama bin Laden" is the mastermind behind these attacks. IMO, he is just a focus point - "The Evil One" - for American's hatred,

But if someone like Bin Laden can be convincingly used as a point of focus to distract the whole world while you get your ducks in a row to go after the true masterminds, why not use him? I've thought since Sept. 11 that's what's being done. We'll know for sure, if we hit Iraq with everything we've got and no one, esp. Hussein sees it coming.

Tell me if this makes sense:

I believe the reason bentonite and aluminum particles are used to weaponize anthrax spores is because they can impart charge upon the particles.

So anthrax spores are run over a bed of clay, basically, and they are converted from neutral charge to ionically charged, at which point they will be more readily airborne. One might expect to see some clay residue on the spores in this instance.

Well, I think there's been plenty of wild geese in here. But you know, if the Pak nukes are wobbly (remember some of their nuclear people being arrested), the heavy ground stuff may be partly aimed towards taking care of that little problem too. In any case, they'll be useful.

We were on vacation a couple of years ago in Wyoming and I believe they have Bentonite mines there. If memory serves, it IS a clay, or perhaps has several properties??

The coating on the anthrax was a dolmite clay used in a process unique to the way Iraq makes the micron sized anthrax spores less likley to cake or clump together so they will stay smaller and stay airborne longer.

Will Powell make excuses not to go after Iraq now? Or will Powell try to stop the US after only a limited attack before we take out Iraqi stockpiles and labs and plants for making biological, chemical and nuke weapons like he did in the Gulf War? The US must destory all these Iraqi capabilities on the ground. TO do so will require US nuclear weapons or a larger occupying force of ground troops to complete the job. Will Powell call on the UN and the Russia to put ground troops in Iraq and will Powell call for the UN to run Iraq like Powell is already calling for the UN to run Afghanistan?

Asst Secretary of state Wolfowitz and former CIA & FBI Director Woolsey have been doing their homework on fact finding missions and laying the groundwork to justify US wipeout of Iraqi capabilities once in for all. If the US does not do take out Iraqi capabilities completely this time, the US will not get another chance and will face heavy loses from weapons of mass destruction brought to the US shores by terrorists trained and backed by Iraq,Iran and Syria,Pakistan, etc.

Sadam Hussein was involved with hijacker pilot Atta and the 9/11 WTC attacks and likely provided Atta with antrax. Sadam Hussein was directly involved in the firt WTC bombing in 1993. It is likely Sadam Hussein was involved in the OKC bombing with Pakistanis and McVeigh and with Nichols and BIn Laden's Abu Sayeff terror group. Wolfowitz and Woolsey know this very well.
