Ok, this is a free for all thread. Come in and take your best shots. I promise I won't delete it or get upset. Get it out of your systems and then we will see if we can solve the problems. There always several sides to any story and several possible solutions to any problem. I'd like to hear them all and I'd like to solve as many problems as we can and get this forum kicking socialist butt again instead of kicking each other. So, please anyone with a complaint or a problem or a possible solution, (moderators, posters, FAB, everyone) please chime in. Thanks, Jim
Never happen
Michael Rivero, OKC Submariner and the rest all contribute enormous amounts of time and research, and even in these times, I think it is important that we all ask the serious questions, especially when we are being asked to "give up some of our liberties."
And I do believe the current situation warrants drastic action by the Government, but at the same time this further increases our duty as citizens to be watchful over them.
Free Republic is the best forum on the internet for sharing information and opinion, and as long as a "theory" or whatever, is discussed within the context of the stated mission of FR, to restore our Constitution, I wish you would allow these threads, even when they appear far out, or from a certain perspective, "disloyal"...
(BTW, I am not refering to peacenik, anti-US hate diatribes, or leftie drivel.)
But, this is your house, and I respect your wishes and judgement.
God Bless, and keep up the great and important work that you do.
By that I mean, you ALWAYS have the freedom and the option to go and set up your own, similar forum. In fact, this has been done quite a few times in the past (Lucianne.Com is one of the few semi-successful attempts).
I agree that these mindless taunts are just that: Mindless. But the fact remains that the "owners" of FR have a right to administer it as they see fit. The fact is that you are being given an opportunity right here to voice your opinion. What many people REALLY want, however, is NOT such an opportunity, but the RIGHT to be allowed to do and say whatever they want, even if it is stupid or offensive to the great majority, and below an established standard.
That's simply not the way liberty works. I am free to NOT have to put up with you here, for example.
As an aside, I haven't really noticed the tons of "disruptors" from a year and more ago, such as Arator. It used to be that calling down the curses on the heads of the Powers That Be on FR was a frequent feature, and the announcement of a "renegade" version of FR starting up on Yahoo or elsewhere was almost a daily thing.
I guess that much bandwidth is being saved because things aren't so anarchic as they used to be.
What ---- John has a secret weapon?
I want one!!
Assuming capital punishment or summary execeution is not an option for the post/thread pulling moderators, I'd suggest they be required to send a short note to the authors explaining why their posts/threads have been pulled or why they are banned. Most likely a dozen or so canned responses would cover the vast majority. Similarly a warning could easily be sent to posters and/or posted on threads that are getting out of hand or generating abuse hits. Keep in mind that often the abuse button punchers are, IMO, merely losing their arguments. Similarly, outrageous posts are sometimes made in order to get threads pulled. The requirement of writing or chosing a reason that would be published would surely reduce unwarranted censoring and appear less like Orwellian censorship.
I'd also suggest you consider closing or freezing threads with a final post briefly stating the thread was out of bounds..... and leave the thread up so others can read it and see why it was banned.
Some very interesting discussions have been terminated because one or two posters stepped over the line.
Last but not least ..... keep trying to find a spell checker that is easy to use.
Regards
I forgot.....somebody's gotta hold the door open and take care of the cars that want valet service.
