Yes. Do you really expect Pak in 2001 to follow a 1979 Iranian script? Unfortunately, history doesn't repeat itself quite so completely. Even if it did, the internal/external dynamics have fewer parallels than you would have the gallery believe. But I don't wish to deter you in your speculations - they are clever and get people thinking.

I don't expect Pakistan to follow the 1979 Iran script: it could go better for us....or much worse.

Nobody thought that the Ayatollah was the next Prophet of Allah.

Pakistan is much more desperately poor than Iran was.

Musharaf's hold on power is much more tenuous than was the Shah's.

The head of Savak was not a secret agent of the Ahatollah, as was the head of the ISI.

Iran did not have nukes.
