It was reported today that the Squaw Peak Hiking Trails org. has issued a warning to it's members to stay away from the popular trails on Squaw Peak in North Central Phoenix after several sightings of mideastern men with " HEAVY ORANGE BACKPACKS" were sited at all hours, including at 4:30 a.m. hiking on and around the mountain! Local F.B.I. says there is no cause for alarm, as has local law enforcment!

Yo, Joel--you must come
here at once. Arrest in progress at Sky Harbor Airport.

lots of people though. I still think this is HIGHLY unlikely to actually occur though.

The Squaw Peak Hiking Association is urging members to avoid the mountain's Summit Trail because two groups of Middle Eastern-looking men were seen there with "heavy, identical orange backpacks." Stay away, well I hope somebody is going in there to try and stop them from having free reign in the area.

I'm sure glad that the Braves didn't make it to the World Series this year.Me too what a snooze that would have been.

I wanted to head to the hills at first and be a long way from town Saturday at game time! BUT THIS IS MY TOWN! Good or bad I am gonna have a look see! I don't think the locals or the feds are looking very hard around there and there are thousans of places to shield a poorly shielded nuke from being detected! If there was an increase in the police around the mountain I would have heard by now! If I do not find anything I will still likely head out about 20 miles and park behind a good size mountain just in case! Wish me luck! Well, I LIVE in the White Mountains, and this thread is making me a little nervous about wind patterns, etc. This is awful, to not feel safe ANYWHERE in our own country!!

Small world! Saguaro High attendee (1975-1976). Then we moved. Still have lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and miscellaneous contacts in Tempe who will be getting a personal email with this news story in it.

GO SPARTANS !!! Have a cabin in the national forest near Prescott, AZ which we recently stocked w/ water, canned goods, etc. Various segments of family agreed to rendezvous there in a worst-case condition. Spent last weekend up there bucking and splitting wood. Have an oldde TUBE short wave radio in case of EMP. Immediate family will be staying up there throughout the game schedules. I feel only semi-prepped but should anything happen we will just take it day by day.

An e-mail sent to members says two of the men drew suspicion by singing in Arabic at 4 a.m. and raising their fists in the air.Maybe the heavy orange backpacks were filled with twelve-packs of Bud.

"There is no reason for anybody when they see a Middle Easterner here or there to panic," said Ihsan Saadeddin, spokesman for the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix.AHH HA HA AH AH AH HAHA. That strikes me as so damn funny. Like the two ton elephant in the living room and no one says a word.

Would it be possible that they are using the mountain to spread anthrax through the city?

"Please, head for the hills, find them nukes and report back. "
I live in the shadow of SQUAW (I love the PC) Peak. Would you come to visit me around "first pitch" time on Saturday? Well? Huh?
I do believe I will take a short 2-3 hour trip up North. Y usted?

Ping.... scary stuff! Sent article to my cousins in Phoenix!

You probably could use a lot more manpower for such a search. Might want to call J.D. Hayworth's office (believe that is the guy's name, the blond haired, big conservative guy) and see if you can get any assistance. Just an idea here but Believe contacting Hayworth may be a good one.
