Please note that there have been several changes to our plans on Saturday. The original post follows with changes in bold.
The D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, October 27, at the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue (as close as we can get to the White House) for our Support America Rally. This change in plans is necessitated by the new rules established by the Secret Service, Park Police and DC Police during the present war-time situation. For security reasons, no demonstrations will be allowed directly in front of the White House, on Pennsylvania Avenue or in Lafayette Park.
In order not to place a burden on our already over-worked law enforcement officers, we have decided that we will avoid any conflict with the hate-America group, which means we will not be able to "rain on their parade" route from the Washington Post to wherever they eventually go.
Therefore, please plan to join the DC Chapter members at 17th and Pennsylvania on the corner next to the Old Executive Office Building on Saturday at 11 a.m.
We will be gathering to boost the morale of our troops, President Bush, the families of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the families of those suffering under the current anthrax terrorism, and freedom loving people everywhere.
Please bring American flags and signs with positive messages. Being that this Saturday is a few days before Halloween, some of us will be dressed for the occasion in patriotic themes ;-)
The hate-American crowd are scheduled to hold a rally in front of the Washington Post building a few blocks from the White House at noon on Saturday. We have been told that they expect 150-300 attendees.
The D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect for all who stand with us. If you cannot abide by them, you will not be allowed to stand with us.
The rules are simple: No violence, no threats, no provocations, no racism, no profanity and no law breaking. All law enforcement officers must be treated with respect.
When: Saturday, October 27, 2001 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. (at the latest).
Where: 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on the corner next to the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House.
Weather forecast: Partly cloudy, temps in the mid 50s.
Families are encouraged to attend. Please let your friends and others on your patriotic e-mail lists know about this, too--it's important.
EAGLES UP !!!

You've got to fight as free men, and free men you are.
What will you do without freedom? Will you fight?
Fight and you may die, run and you'll live, at least a while. And dying in your bed many years from now would you be willing to trade all your days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they'll never take our freedom.

i won't be the guy w/the carnation in his lapel. J
i just copied a couple of the bump lists that have been used
on the rally threads and printed up the names that were there.
also made up about three dozen blanks for anyone who wants to 'freehand' it.
I was privileged to see VP Cheney last night in Washington, who spoke eloquently & straightforwardly about terrorism to about 18 of the Nation's Governors and a group of Republican supporters.
I was able to shake his hand and say "God Bless you, Mr. Vice President."
He made a joke about:
"It is so good to see.......people. They don't let many people into the.......cave."
We roared at his somewhat self-effacing wit.
PS: Big Bump for the rally!
"MIKE MORAN
I'm from Rockaway,
and this is my face,
. . . . B!tch!!"
on it?
