I think you are right. I also think that the reason why we see the floating of the idea of a domestic source for the anthrax attacks is so the administration won't have to deal with this issue right now.
Steve Buyer is exactly right. If the anthrax attacks are traced to a foreign source, we must respond with weapons of mass destruction. Otherwise, our bluff will have been called and all bets will be off.

To me it was on 11 SEP 01....6,000 dead by civilian jets IS A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION, and an attack on our financial, political, and military infrastructure. I advocated the use of nuclear weapons on 12 SEP 01 or better yet, when we had a clear idea of who was involved.
Now, A month later, citizens are DYING of Anthrax, a nuisense of a biological weapon, but a biological weapon nonetheless.
We must retaliate after we find a good target, with small (1-50kt) nuclear weapons to send a message to future terrorists that "We will back up our promises" to retaliate with nuclear weapons anytime anyone uses nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons on our citizens, government, or military, at home or abroad.
As a former 'Louisiana Man', I totally agree. Sen. Biden is already buckling at the knees saying that he wants the bombing to be over soon.
Heck, it only been a few weeks. I guess we'll need to 'buy' (and other Democrats) approval for more bombing with maybe 10,000 lives lost next time?
MM, I think you are absolutely correct. There will have to be considerable American casualties until our politicians will find the fortitude to do what it takes to protect our country. Proof is in the fact that most are unwilling to even DISCUSS the possibility that tactical nukes may needed.
