Im paraphrasing what the Congressment is saying:
"We as a country cannot fear an open discussion {on the use of nuclear weapons)".
We have been attacked by Biological weapons, and as per our 50 year plan, need to fulfill our promise to deter such attacks by using small, tactical nuclear weapons on terrorists strongholds.
If we do not retaliate with weapons of mass destruction as they have used on us, future terrorist attacks with WMD may not be detered and the consequences may be more than we are willing to bear.
Steve Buyer, IN-R
Again I was paraphrasing.

The main reason why the Democrat party exists, despite their obsolete ideas, is the stupidity of belligerent Republicans. People vote for Democrats not for the ideas but because they're voting "not Republican".

I wish somebody would contact Buyer and tell him we don't have any NUCULAR weapons in our arsenal. I find it hard to believe that anybody in public life, with a staff of presumably knowledgeable people to advise them on all sorts of topics, can go on national networks and say "nucular." But lots of them do.

Uh-huh. Just a couple of Jints fans mixing up weapons-grade bacteria in their rec room.
No links to international Islamist terrorism or Iraq or anything.
Go back to sleep.

A national ID card would be absolutely useless. We already have them - Social Secuirty cards. Practically every US citizen has one and so do millions of illegals.
Any skilled terrorist organization can manufacture ID cards. Cards are no defense. Tight borders are.

"The Bill of Rights" is not a suicide pact That's why the Constitution can be amended.

One could make the case that since this in an unconventional war with an unconventional enemy that uses unconventional weapons that our response should be unconventional also.

I agree. My question was a rhetorical one. See #'s 3, 18, & 40.

I fear it's just not gonna happen until a couple million of us are dead. That's the insane height to which political correctness has climbed. As a former 'Louisiana Man', I totally agree. Sen. Biden is already buckling at the knees saying that he wants the bombing to be over soon.
Heck, it only been a few weeks. I guess we'll need to 'buy' (and other Democrats) approval for more bombing with maybe 10,000 lives lost next time?

There will have to be considerable American casualties until our politicians will find the fortitude to do what it takes to protect our country. Proof is in the fact that most are unwilling to even DISCUSS the possibility that tactical nukes may needed.

Representative Buyer used an analogy to describe his idea. You know, I remember being on the farm, going after some rats. When you pour that gasoline down the hole you know, the ground will shake a little bit when you light it, and then the rats come out the other hole. And that's exactly what we're talking about here in Afghanistan.
