Film in the camera, camera in the car! Better yet, I'll get one of those lightweight disposable ones that'll fit in my purse.

Am I missing anything else? Please advise.Notebook and pencil for license numbers and observations.
To: MHGinTN
A quick calculation based on numbers heard on talk radio [use at your own risk] of terrorists, terrorist supporters, and terrorist sympathizers in America right now shows that even this community, which is the 750th largest population center in the country, has roughly 1200 such persons. Keep an eye out.

"There, now that wasn't so difficult was it?"
I quess that Sioux Falls is a pretty low-profile place. We don't even have a Costco Store. The horrors of it all...

Excellent head's up. BTTT for national security!

I didn't think about copying down license numbers because I thought most of them would have rental cars registered under the name of Yabba Dabba Doo...or whatever.

This is my first post here so please go easy. Long time lurker, though. TAKE THE PICTURE, no worry about taking anyone's pic without their consent unless you violate their reasonable expectation of privacy (like taking it in a bathroom, bedroom, etc). I do it (surveillance) for a living. Great ideas everyone.

I didn't think about copying down license numbers because I thought most of them would have rental cars registered under the name of Yabba Dabba Doo...or whatever. Get the number. Even if it is rented under a fake name, the FBI might be able to gather valuable information. They will be able to lift finger prints from the vehicle after it is returned for example. Or better yet, a special agent can be waiting at the rental return desk to ask them a few questions when they come back.

That's an excellent idea to keep a camera in your car. A cheap disposable one would do fine.
And even if you never see something suspicious worth photographing, it could come in handy if you're in a fender bender.

Great Post. As an average family photographer, I had recently started carrying two cameras - one film and one digital. I typically choose the one best suited to the trip - film for recreation and digital for town trips. I had not thought of using them for the reasons you post. Thanks. I will be much more aware now that they may serve another purpose.

Lately I've been sitting here in the hinterland of WV thanking the Lord that terrorists have no interest in hillbillies. But then I picked up the local paper to find that the local Barney Fifes and health dept people are so busy chasing Anthrax scares they are stretched to their limits. I don't think there is actually any Anthrax around here, but people are very nervous. The only thing I can think of that might need watching around here are the two bridges that connect us to the outside world. I think the locals have those covered pretty well though. So I suppose there will be no need for me to wear my video watch when I go out.

Lately I've been sitting here in the hinterland of WV thanking the Lord that terrorists have no interest in hillbillies. I recently read an article in Time magazine about someone in Copperhill, TN who met a man at the local airport last spring who he swears was Atta. The man flew in on a small plane and was asking strange questions about the local chemical plant and the various dams.
I was floored because I whitewater raft near Copperhill every year and it is a very small town. It is a place we go to to get away from it all. Evidently the terrorists considered taking out the plant or one of the TVA dams.
Not to be an alarmist, but even small town America could be a target.
To: RevNan
I'm in a small rural community in the Midwest where many people know each other, so spotting outsiders is not difficult. However, we do have a problem with a very few people being concerned about their mail being tainted with anthrax.
