I purchased $3500 worth of candy at wholesale rates for an event last year

My, that's a bit of a sweet tooth you got there.

I am waiting anxiously for a good, innocent reason for why boat loads of candy were returned by Middle Eastern men with fake membership cards, and why this candy was then put back on the shelf.

Where are you getting this from?

That is not what the story said. It said they bought $35,000 worth of candy, not that they returned it. Any store that puts an opened bag of returned candy back on the shelf is begging for a lawsuit. If that candy contained smallpox and hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands died from it, the resulting lawsuit would wipe that store chain off the face of the earth.

Trick-or-treating people you know, who have kids of their own, should be safe. Don't go anywhere else.

I wonder if you have any infomation on the half life of smallpox once it is outside the container. Just how long can it live on say a candy wrapper or anything else.

Bad news: months.

This link it to a local radio station I listen to once in a while. Read the "Wednesday" notes. The candy was RETURNED. And, I listened to part of the show and it was confirmed that the candy was put back on the shelves after the health department "couldn't see anything wrong with the candy". Let me ask you a question. Would you eat this candy knowing what actually happened?

"Now that's a great idea!"

Ya' think it would be a little overboard if I put some of my wife's red gloss nail polish on their little bayonettes?

I live so far out in the boonies, no-one bothers to come out to my house trick-or-treating. So........ However, I do have one question, Can dogs, cats or birds spread small pox to humans? I have lots of birds around here.

There was another incident in which a man bought a lot, maybe 1700 bucks worth, returned it and it was put back on the shelf after a "health inspection".
