The FBI was investigating reports yesterday that magazines with extensive articles about bioterrorism were found in the apartment of three Jersey City men arrested for questioning in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Agents planned to return to the Tonnele Avenue apartment after the Wall Street Journal reported finding the magazines there, according to Special Agent Sandra Carroll, the bureau's spokesperson in New Jersey. Carroll said investigators had no reason to suspect the building posed any health threat.

Mohammed Pervez, 37, is a naturalized U.S. citizen. This would suggest he's lived among us for some time.

Could lend credence to graphologists' speculation (that the handwriting on envelopes sent to Brokaw and Daschle may be that of a foreigner who has lived in this country for many years)?

His roommates, Ayub Ali Khan and Mohammed Azmath, boarded a San Antonio-bound plane in Newark on the morning of Sept. 11, then transferred to a train when their plane was grounded in St. Louis. They were arrested in Texas on suspicion of drug charges and transferred to New York for questioning after police found they were carrying hair dye, $5,000 in cash and box-cutters like the ones used by the hijackers. Officials in India later charged Khan and Azmath with fraud for allegedly falsifying their passports. FBI officials also questioned people in India after learning the men had sent nearly $60,000 back to relatives there.

I am amazed that people working at newsstands could accumulate these sums of money. As well as their plane tickets which cost a tidy sum. This reminds me of when I was living on Staten Island a black moved into an all white neighborhood and proceeded to lavishly renovate his home including gold-plated faucets while taking trips to Las Vegas, all with no discernible means of supporting himself. It wasn't too long before he tripped up himself.

Looks like we have a strong suspect. And we have the WSJ to thank for it, while the FBI fumbles there way through a lot of dead leads.

Someone needs to remind these guys that this is a war. Preserving a CYA paper trail to ensure a conviction is secondary to quickly putting these terrorists out of business.
