Emma Thornton still shows up for work at 5 a.m. each day in her blue slacks, pinstripe shirts and rubber-soled shoes. A letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, she still dutifully sorts all the mail addressed to "One World Trade Center," and primes it for delivery.

>>90,000 pieces of mail a day

You'd think most of the companies would have filled out forwarding addresses by now

It is an insult to us and someone like Emma Thorton to ask "what did we do to provoke this?" She is the epitomy of a hardworking American. As a postal worker, to some her job would be menial. She is a true example of what gives America its pride. She shows courage in her daily life and finds joy in that. They may have collapsed the WTC, but they haven't dimmed her pride and courage.

The blood of the victims cries out from the ground!

Ghosts of 9/11

NEVER FORGET!

The word is out:
You're either with U.S.
or you're with the TERRORISTS!

NO NEGOTIATIONS
NO COMMON GROUND
TERRORISTS MUST DIE.

Just proving what we always knew. New Yorkers have a big heart and so do all the people who sent gifts to the Towers even tho they were gone. This story is so touching. We should never ever forget that a piece of the heart of America was stolen. We must replace it with extra kindness to those who lost family in the disaster.

They should send all the 'ground zero' mail to the mayor. He'll know what to do with it. Split it up and send it to the fire, police and rescue stations that responded to the call. As for the tower mail, there must be some way to get it to the next of kin, but I don't know what it is. I think getting the ground zero mail to the fire, police and rescue people would make a lot of people feel good. And the mayor should definately take Emma Thornton along to deliver it!

Just got your ping on this story. Thank you so much. There are so many layers to 9/11 that we just haven't thought about--this is one.

I'm still looking for a story about the children/victims involved in 9/11 and how many day care centers were in the World Trade Center. The silence on this subject is curious.
