Reminder - Threads will no longer be broken beginning Friday, October 19, 2001. The recommended setting in your preferences for this thread is at least "100" posts.
A reminder to all - be vigilant. This bio attack could well be a diversionary tactic.
Also - everyone needs to remain calm. Hysteria will not help the matter. Stick with the facts, and these are that the places hit are very few in number and the number of folks infected are very few in number taken against the Nation's population.
Continue.

Due to publishing and media satuation, it has been announced that no further Anthrax Reports or Alerts can be given in the United States for the balance of the month of October. Only Anthrax Cases can be reported on due to the waste of media resources and general population intelligence. Thanking all outlets, in advance, for their cooperation in this matter.
In a related matter, the same seven cities in Afghanistan with the little starbursts next to them, and the names of all countries including the "stan" syllable, in all media grafics, have been over utilized. In the future, only an AC-130 Gunship in the act of firing munitions shall be used as a media backdrop.

If this was a coordinated terrorist assault, though, it was pretty ineffectual. Given anthrax's lethal potential, an assault that caused one death, one nonfatal infection and two noninfectious exposures (a number that had risen to seven by Saturday, said American Media, though federal health officials wouldn't confirm it) is like the Sept. 11 hijackers' commandeering a motorcycle and driving it into a telephone booth. "Get real," says a photographer who works for tabloid newspapers. "If this was a terrorist incident, they would have put it in the ventilating system, and 400 people would have anthrax right now."
if this was a terrorist incident, they would have put it in the ventilating system...... any comments? sounds real to me...

Ok..this is what I wrote down:
*They (the House? Senate? Both?) had a meeting THIS MORNING with the President and conferred with Tom Ridge and decided the best and most prudent and cautious approach would be to adjourn after today's business and return Tuesday
*There was a FLUME that came out with this Anthrax letter and they have never seen this before.
Hastert said earlier that spores were found in the ventilation system; now he says he's not sure.
WHATEVER.

I think I'm going to stop using the radio as a main source of info. It's proven to be utterly worthless today. I think I've put my foot in my mouth here several times today.
Ugh.

Just a thought.
Was reading the thread dealing with having "10 days food and water" and wondered if managers in grocery stores had thought about putting together a "package" of goods to be sold as a unit ... such as ... "10 day supply - nonperishable"?
Would something like that sell?

If the public panics it will all be Hastert and Gephardt's fault....
They are running home!

OR it could be this scenario: Little Tommy Daschle set up the House. Told them this, told them that; had the speaker of the House come out and tell this story, it's all over the news. Then, the House and Senate announces it's closing; but WAIT!!!! Little Tommy Daschle comes back out and says, "No, we're not, we are going to stay here AND DO THE WORK OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE." Making the House look like a bunch of fools.
Believe me, I wouldn't put it PAST HIM.

I too found the choice of words Daschle used yesterday to be odd. Disappointed and angry? Well, angry is fine, but disappointed???
To: Cammysmom
Sorry Cammy but I respectfully disagree....
If this was a Terrorist attack.....they got their moneys worth..
The House just ran for cover...
This is unreal..
