Crime: In Washington state, a 2nd Amendment stronghold, some fear Thomas Wales was killed for his activism.

SEATTLE -- It was no coincidence that the National Rifle Assn. chose Washington state for its annual gun show earlier this year. The state has always regarded the 2nd Amendment as a sacred text.

When gun control proponents backed a landmark initiative in 1997 to require trigger locks and safety training, it didn't just lose. It lost spectacularly, by a 71%-29% margin. It lost in every single county.

So it was that several dozen members of CeaseFire, demonstrating at the NRA gun show in July, were more than a little intimidated when they were met with several counterdemonstrators...

I attended this show with two of my sons. We had a good laugh at the CeaseFire morons as they marched in a little circle chanting, "NRA, go away!" I'm sure they felt oh so heroic protesting so close to people with guns. Ooooh, scary.

It is kind of interesting how the Gun Control group will take ANY shooting tragedy and turn it into a Public Relations opportunity. It doesn't matter if they exploit children, the elderly, or their own. They have absolutely no shame.

Just so the slime bags in LA understand, up here in Washington State, we have a constitution that says, "The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men." Article 1, Section 24.

I and my neighbors take our individual civil rights provided by our consitution seriously. When groups like CeaseFire try to infringe on our civil rights we know how to turn out the vote. That is a lot different from the kind of slime and propaganda being put forward by the LA Times.

You're the first one to make what seems to me to be an obvious point. This blowhard (even the Seattle Times described him as "strident in his rhetoric") had no success whatsoever in promoting gungrabbing. That antigun intitiative - with funding by Bill Gates BTW - crashed and burned. Nobody from a second amendment group would have shot this guy - he hadn't accomplished anything, and wasn't about to.
