PHOTOS OF THE ANTHRAX LETTERS
Yahoo ^ | October 16, 2001 | FBI

Posted on 10/16/2001 2:07:36 PM PDT by TheOtherOne

Reuters Photo
The FBI released this photo on October 16, 2001 showing the letters that were sent to NBC in New York and to Sen. Tom Daschle's office on Capitol Hill and were found to contain the anthrax bacteria. Anthrax was confirmed in the letter opened on October 15 in Daschle's office, but so far none of the staff in that office has tested positive for exposure to the potentially deadly bacteria, Capitol police said. Thanks for the photos. I think the letters in those photos are reduced in size. The envelopes are the small size, and I think the letters are full sized, folded 3 times, to fit in a small envelope.

I can't get yours to spit back the +4 part. It's just a hunch, but I think the perp got the thing in its entirety from somewhere.

I use this zip code site:

link

Just entering 20510 at my site, it gave me the following:

WASHINGTON DC 20510-0001

County Name not found for the ZIP code 20510 Carrier Route : C000 Delivery Point : 99 Check Digit : 3

So it doesn't appear the perp used those websites. There must be tons more on the net though.

Thanks Aliska...someone just mentioned a few posts ago, that the anthrax possibly came from the UK. Doing a search, I came up with this...notice the NAME!

Will have to go back and check the UK poster and see what was said but have to quit for awhile now.

I slash my zeroes, will sometimes use leading zeroes and will put the tail on my ones. These are habits of technical, engineering, programming type people.

What I get out of all of this is:
-the perp lived in or had connections to Greendale Laboratories
in Woking, Surrey, England where he or his contacts obtained the anthrax sample.

-the perp lives in northern New Jersey -- possibly Patterson

-the perp has children in Jersey schools

-the perp had a child, probably male, address and write the letters and envelopes.

-the date written on the letter was a later edition possibly written by another person.

I keep going back to Patterson as his residence and a connection to the blind imam Rachman - my gut instincts.

Sorry, it is very late here. "Later addition" is what I meant to write instead of "edition".

"I still don't understand the motive for going after the office that houses the National Enquirer. That alone makes me think that it isn't domestic."

I didn't write this comment, but my response to it was relevant to yours, "the Enquirer would report it immediately".

The date has me thinking it could well have been Atta's group, perhaps frosting on the cake; to let us know while the 19 are dead, there are some left behind, and among us. On two of the envelopes, the postmark (while difficult to read clearly) appears to be ?? Sep 01, maybe 11 Sep. That is why I suggest someone mailed for Atta or one in his group.

Yes, someone familiar with forms may use the mmddyy format, but I don't believe a child would. That is about my only response to that, except how many US born would do it? I certainly wouldn't, unless required, as on computer or other forms, wouldn't occur to me to do on any type of correspondence. In fact, I worked for the military so many years, I use their style of date, 9 Sep 01 or 9Sep01, pure habit.

No, the adult perp wanted the handwriting to look like that of a 10-11 year old 4th grader.

I think it’s a professor, or some academic type who was worried that the gov, the media, and the public were not doing enough to prepare for germ warfare. He had the anthrax and waited for the right opportunity to send it out to government representatives and the media. Now we have been warned. I think that was his intent. I don’t think he intended to kill anyone.

Thanks for the analysis! I'm hoping the copy was made on a cheap fax/copier that uses film ... the image would be on the take up roll!

Something interesting . . .

I did a search on Google on that zip code (came up with 7 pages of results), but look here

The address is given EXACTLY as on the envelope with the only exception is that "Patrick", phone and fax were omitted on the address:

Senator Patrick Leahy (Dem.)
Phone: (202) 224-4242
Fax: (202) 224-3479
433 Russell Senate Office
Building
Washington, DC 20510-4502

Note that the word "Building" is blocked EXACTLY as on the envelope; I wouldn't have done it that way probably but would if I were an exacto type.

Senator Tom Daschle's comes out like this when I backed up the URL and clicked on sd.html:

Senator Thomas Daschle (Dem.)
Phone: (202) 224-2321
Fax: (202) 224-7895
509 Hart Senate Office
Building
Washington, DC 20510-4103

I notice the perp used periods in DC and the above examples do not.

Still, I wonder how many published sources show the addresses that way.

I noticed the G done in one swish, too, but didn't comment on it. Still, it could be an important clue if there were something to match it to.

What kind of fax/copier uses a “take up roll” and that keeps a copy?

BTW, I've got one here so that's why I know how it works. I haven't unrolled a used roll to see if the image prints on it - but it is only logical that it does since that is how it transfers to the paper. Single pass film.
