NEW Zogby Poll: Americans Prefer President Bush to Bill Clinton, 72% to 20%

How sweet it is. American voters OVERWHELMINGLY prefer Bush over the guy that the media has been INSISTING is still America's choice.

Bush's poll numbers were higher on Sept 1 than Clinton's were Sept 1 of his first term. Bush's poll numbers in September were higher than Clinton's were when he left office. In other words, you are incorrect.

Oh, really? What is your source for these numbers? Gallup.com says that Clinton had a 65% job approval rating on 1/18/01, compared with 55% for Bush just before 9/11. Unfortunately, they don't go back to Sept. '93.

Sure, dear. (patting your head) We feel your pain. Soooooo aorry your beloved Clinton didn't get to bask in the "glory" of 6000 dead. We feel your pain.

Hey, don't go around patting my head...I'm short, but not *that* short! =) And you're repeating that same out-of-context quote that I heard on Rush the other day. Go back to the original interview on 9/16 and you'll see that Clinton never said anything about "basking in the glory of the dead" or even that he wishes it had happened under his watch. What you heard on Rush was right-wing hyperbole.

There are two men, both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap software and gives hundreds of millions of dollars to charity. The other sponsors terrorism.

That being the case, why is it that Clinton spent more money chasing down Bill Gates than Osama bin Laden?

I never heard clinton's policies put quite that way, but its right on target. You hit the nail on the head. I hope you don't mind if I use that quote. BTW don't forget all the jobs Gates provides, and the taxes the business and employees pay etc. etc.

Clinton began his first term of office with the highest job disapproval rating of any president in the past six decades, when a few days after he took office a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll showed 58% of Americans approved, but 20% disapproved of his performance. [snip]

As far as the statement about "when Clinton left office", I do stand corrected. You go back three or four months prior, or go a few weeks after mid-January (when the public got a chance to digest his disgraceful last few acts in office) and you get a more accurate picture.

I wasn't attributing "basking in the glory of 6000 dead" to anyone. Those were my words. Of course Clinton wouldn't make such a comment. There is a quote from one of his staffers (I think during his first term) about Clinton lamenting that he wasn't the CinC during WWII. And it was Chris Matthews lamenting the fact that Clinton never got that "test". Pooooooor baby.

Fortunately, they do go back to Sept. '93. Clinton's approval rating for the first Gallup poll of September '93 was 47%.

It's a slippery thing to equate job approval with popularity, which implies a commonly liked or appreciated figure. Popularity would be more accurately assessed by looking at polling datum on Clinton's overall favorability numbers. The last year has not been kind to Clinton in this regard. His overall favorability numbers have declined while his unfavorability numbers have risen dramatically.
