Apologies to Freepers for stating the obvious. The polls prove that the press gives an unrealistic and exaggerated account of these protest rallies. The vast, vast, vast, vast majority of non-protestors are being disenfranchised by the press. (^:

PEOPLE WHO STAND UP GET COUNTED.

PEOPLE WHO STAND UP GET COUNTED.

Absolutely. This is not a non-protest thread. I was a Florida Freeper during election 2000. I witnessed the results of the often lone Freeper who stood as a symbol for the other busy Americans who honked and waved as they went from job to home and family.

The media does give the peace protestors too much credence, encouraging them. A few patriots guarding the Veterans' Memorials, etc., standing up to the unwashed masses neutralizes (Star Trek "neutralize") the effects of the peaceniks on those communities where rallies take place, but the rest of the viewing world rarely sees the pro-America rallies while getting a daily dose of often violent protestors. Just trying to add a little perspective for the press.

I do wonder whether a massive counter-protest would encourage the pacifists, they feed on perceived persecution. A few adults with megaphones and little other press or public attention may be a better way to handle these attention-seekers. I don't know.
